The Women in Black

Daniel Radcliffe in The Woman in Black film
Having spent the better part of his entire teenage life filling the boots of Harry Potter only to go starkers on Broadway, Daniel Radcliffe is about to embark on his first none wizarding cinematic role in The Women in Black.

Directed by James Watkins, it is an adaptation of the 1983 thriller novel of the same by Susan Hill. Though the story has been turned into a stage play before and a TV movie was released in 1989 for ITV, The Women in Black has never previously made its way to the big screen.

Daniel Radcliffe plays Arthur Kipps, a young lawyer who heads to the country on a legal case. However, once there he discovers a trail of mysterious events that leads him to the haunting spectre of The Women in Black, the vengeful ghost that haunts the village he finds himself in. The reality that a child dies every time The Women in Black is seen forces Arthur to get involved placing himself and his young son back in London in the face of danger.

The trailer gives The Women in Black a real haunting feel with visual shades of Sleepy Hollow and Bram Stoker's Dracula. It also stars Ciarán Hinds (Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy) as local landowner, Sam Daily, who also played Dumbledore's brother in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

The Women in Black will be released in the UK on the 10th February 2012.
