Tyrannosaur film (2011)

Tyrannosaur film (2011)
Writing and directorial debut for actor Paddy Considine (The Submarine), Tyrannosaur is a pretty serious looking film. With a perfectly apt name and a great cast, it picked up 3 Sundance International Film Festival Awards. Hopefully, the same appreciation will be returned when it is put on general release in cinemas later this year.

The storyline follows the meeting and subsequent relationship of Joseph (Peter Mullan) and Hannah (played by Olivia Coleman from Peep Show fame). Joseph has more than a few issues with violence and his own inner demons to deal with, but the apparent redemptive arms of Christian charity shop worked, Hannah, could be the stability that he is looking for. However, secrets pasts turn out not just to be on Joseph's side, leading to destructive consequences for all.

Set for release in the UK on the 7th of October 2011, Tyrannosaur looks like it could one of the surprise entries for an oscar. For a directorial and script writing debut for a full cinematic release, PC's definitely doing well for himself.

Considine's previous effort in the writing and directing credentials, Dog Altogether, netted him a Best Short Film Bafta. Hopefully, Tyrannosaur will continue his breakthrough into serious drama.
