Youth in revolt UK DVD & Blu-ray release date - Michael Cera develops moustachioed bad boy image

Michael Cera as François Dillinger in Youth in revolt
Michael Cera’s (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World) understated, awkward teenage comedy genius has defined films like Superbad and Juno, but in the adaptation of C.D. Payne’s Youth in revolt, he shows a whole new side to his on-screen persona. With a release date on DVD & Blu-ray of 15th June 2010, Youth in revolt is a film that transforms Cera from his awkward teen to moustachioed bad azz in the name of young love.

When Nick Twisp (Cera), a sixteen year old high school outcast, meets Sheena Saunders (Portia Doubleday) he becomes transfixed by her; cos of her being all clever n beautiful n all. However, when things don’t go to plan and he realises that she doesn’t see him in the same way that he sees her, he’s forced to go to the mattresses. Out of his geeky teen appearance he discovers and develops a whole new character through which he can attract the attention of of Sheena. He becomes moustachioed bad azz François Dillinger, with blue eyes, a deeper voice and cigarette in hand.

Things take a turn for the worse though when Sheena makes Nick a wanted criminal and suddenly the madness begins.

The film also stars Steve Buscemi (Fargo) as Nick’s dad and Ray Liotta (Goodfellas & the voice of Tommy Vercetti in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City) and Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover) as his mom’s boyfriends. With such an all star cast, a class storyline and a new twist in Cera’s on-screen performances, Youth in revolt looks like it could be a great DVD or Blu-ray release, especially with the deleted scenes and extended animation extras that are bundled on with the film.
