The first podcast featured Mark Thomas’ The Manifesto, which is built around a stream of sometimes crazy, sometimes inspired policy suggestions sent in by the audience and discussed throughout the show. The most popular suggestions are put together in a manifesto flurry at the end of the show. The episode on the podcast featured a proposal for the invasion of Jersey to recoup the non-dom taxes lost and pseudo-X factor vote for football player’s wages after ever single game.
However, something new will be featured every week in the podcast, so it’s a good opportunity to test out some of Radio 4’s funniest shows to see if they’re worth listening to on a regular basis. I reckon The Manifesto is a definite winner.
Other comedians that will be featured in the not too distant future include Lenny Henry and Tom Wigglesworth, as well as shows like Just A Minute and Ed Reardon. The other thing is that it’s free, so worth every penny. The second in the Comedy of the Week podcasts will be available on Monday 17th January 2011.
