Following the 2008 mini-series Back to Earth, there hasn't been much in the way of big news but that's about to change with Series 10 confirmed as a six parter by the official Red Dwarf website. They have also confirmed that Rimmer, Lister, Cat and Kryten will be back with the same actors as before. However, the big change is the plan to make the episodes thirty minutes now, instead of the old twenty three.
Shooting is planned to begin in November if all goes well, pushing back the release date to September time in 2012. Red Dwarf Series 10 will air on Dave, which has commissioned the show for it's 2012 autumn launches.
A return for Holly hasn't been ruled out, but one constant will be the influence of Red Dwarf co-creator, Doug Naylor, who developed the show with Rob Grant for it's first broadcast back in 1988. High hopes though will go to the possibility of filming to include live studio audiences and old school model effects, but Dave will probably have the final decision on some of the finer, budget-related decisions. I say stump up big, because if they're ace they'll be Christmas DVD sales bankers for years to come. Huh, do it Dave! Do it!
