Electro-pop purists Metronomy will open The Bicycle Film Festival 2010 at the Barbican, a year that sees London fall ever more in love with bikes with the introduction of Boris Johnson's cycle hire scheme. It's kind of weird to base an entire film festival on the lowly bike, but with the whole climate change issue, it definitely needs as much attention as it can get.
The festival starts on the 14th October 2010 with Metronomy's set which will feature a specially commissioned film projection and light show. Having last seen Metronomy at a show in Bristol a few years ago I can vouch for their electro light show wonder working. They had massive round lights around their chest that flashed on and off whenever they touched them; a bit cheesy, but mostly class.
Tickets are between £12.50 - £20.
The rest of the festival will include new bike related shorts, features and a BMX tribute produced by Spike Jonze.
Metronomy are also currently in the studio working on their third album, so maybe some of their new tracks will get a sneaky airing at The Bicycle Film Festival 2010.
