Just had a listen to Try Harder from Times New Viking's upcoming album Dancer Equired and luckily I stayed for the full song, because put together it work really well. It's broken into three parts, not surprisingly considering their art school background, and each of the three are split into a couple of fragments themselves, so it's hard not to find parts to like.
Dancer Equired will be available from 26th April 2011, but it should be on iTunes on the 25th with a much reduced price tag thanks to the no import required. With a fourteen song output, it looks set to be a heavyweight, so hopefully it'll all live up to the standard set in Try Harder (video below):
The middle section has great guitar after the cassette change bit and the chant of Try Harder at the end could easily go on for longer. Times New Viking are signed to Merge, who also take care of Arcade Fire, so that could be another good sign that Dancer Equired will be a good record. They're also doing a UK tour of lo-fi intensity to coincide with the release with the following dates:
April
25th Fuzz @ Project Norwich
27th Deaf Institute Manchster
28th The Duchess, York
29th Rope @ Central Station, Wrexham
30th Nice n' Sleazy's, Glasgow
May
1st Brudenell for Live In Leeds
2nd Club Lazy Genius @ Mojo, Liverpool
3rd Upset The Rhythm @ XOYO, London
