Arrabiata ingredients:
• 6 rashers of bacon, cut
into strips
• 1 tin chopped tomatoes
•1 courgette, chopped
•1 pepper, chopped
• 1 onion chopped
• 100g button mushrooms
chopped in half
• 1 tsp chilli powder (level)
• 1 tsp mixed herbs
• 1 tbsp olive oil
• 700g Fusilli
• A sprinkle of ground turmeric
• Salt & pepper
1. Put the fusilli on to boil with a pinch of salt and pepper and a
little olive oil.
2. Fry the bacon on a medium hob in the remaining olive oil for a
couple of minutes before adding the onions to the pan
3. When the onion starts to brown slightly, add the chopped
courgette, pepper and button mushrooms to the pan
4. As soon as the courgette & pepper begins to soften and the
mushrooms shrink and brown on the outside, sprinkle on the
chilli powder, mixed herbs, salt & pepper (to taste) and ground
turmeric and mix in evenly
5. Stir in the tomatoes and simmer, while the pasta finishes
cooking
6. Once the pasta is cooked, drain and leave to dry slightly for a
few seconds
7. Spoon the pasta out onto plates and pour the sauce over the
top
If you want to give your arrabiata more of a hit, add more chilli powder. You can also add chicken to the dish or replace the bacon with chicken to mix things up a bit.
