If you’ve ever been worried about being taken seriously in the workplace, then this is probably the collection for you, because looking at Jil Sander’s Autumn / Winter 2010 catwalk collection austerity and severity are the key words.

I defy you to find a model that doesn’t look like a sinister alien sent to earth to take over the world. They look like they’d be the kind of women at the heart of The Two Ronnies’ sketch The Worm That Turned. If it wasn’t for the occasional slight hint of colour, you could also accuse the collection of taking its influence from the Ford Model T.
However, no one will ever doubt your abilities in the work place again in a Jil Sander Autumn / Winter collection ensemble. You will be able to march up and down the corridors like Maggie Thatcher in her heyday, and dominate board room meetings with a steely gaze. Although, by the look of the models you may never be able to smile again.
The high street alternative is UNIQLO’s +J women’s clothing.
