Willow Episode 5 songs

If you’ve just competed the roller coaster that was Willow Episode 5, you might want to know who sings the two songs, Time for Some Mayhem and Crimson and Clover. The first is a very unique single by Arre! Arre!, which went pretty well with the runaway opening sequence.

The second – much like Black Hole Sun at the end of Episode 4 – is a cover of a much earlier track, and it’s another good one. It’s by indie rock and grunge band, Pom Pom Squad, led by singer songwriter, Mia Berrin.

You can listen to both of them below in full and with so many great songs in the Willow TV series, we’re looking forward to hearing what lands in Episode 6. There are still three more episodes left and it doesn’t really feel like we’re getting any closer to rescuing Airk, which is fine with us if it means there’s more of the Ulfgood gang and the tracks that overlay their adventure.

Arre! Arre!’s Time for Some Mayhem kicks off Episode 5 as Willow and the rest of the heroes run away from the Gales, who are hot on their tale after the events at Nockmaar in Episode 4. It was released as a stand-alone single back in 2021 to feature on the soundtrack to Swedish film, Eva & Adam.

The band hails from Malmo in Sweden and they’ve been creating punk songs ever since they were formed in 2014. They’ve had a number of albums over the years with the most recent being We Ride the Universe, which came out in April 2022.

The Crimson + Clover cover by Pom Pom Squad is up their with the original track in terms of quality and delivery. The video is pretty surreal and goes well with the party atmosphere that takes over with the Bone Reavers when Willow and the band get free and join the party midway through Episode 5.

Pom Pom Squad were formed in Brooklyn New York in 2015, but only have one album to their name, 2021’s Death of Cheerleader. However, lead singer and songwriter Mia Berrin and team have made up for this by releasing a series of singles going back to their debut, Hat It Here, following its earlier arrival on their opening EP of the same name.

If you’re looking to add any of the tracks to your collection, all of their music is available to buy on iTunes and bandcamp, including the songs that featured on Willow Episode 5. You can also find out more about the original version of Crimson and Clover below.

Who made the original version of Crimson and Clover?

The song was originally release in 1968 by Tommy James and the Shondells, written by lead singer James and the band’s drummer, Peter Lucia Jr. It made its way to the number 1 spot of the US Billboard chart, going on to be their biggest hit.

The Pom Pom Squad cover in episode 5 of Willow is far from its first, though. Joan Jett, Cher and Prince have all done versions of the psych-pop song and with its recent feature in the TV series it’s going to get even more attention.

Tommy James and the Shonells had some epic hair, which you can see for yourself in the video below. It’s taken from a live performance of the song, which sounds even better than the original in our opinion.
