We’re not 100% convinced about the end finale for She-Hulk on Disney+, but it does throw up some interesting questions like why did Abomination go with Wong? It’s another one of the Sorcerer Supreme’s grab and run jobs as he appears to be recruiting a team for something or other.
Emil Blonsky, AKA The Abomination (played by Tim Roth), is his latest buddy as he rescues him from his prison cell in the final episode of She-Hulk. It doesn’t sound like they’ve got anything urgent that they need to do with them chatting about Wi-Fi in Kamar-Taj, but clearly there’s got to be a reason for the mystical escape.
AdvertisementThere’s a brief mention of Wong being sucked into another TV show, but it doesn’t appear to be related to why he comes to get Abomination. It kind of gets overshadowed by the reveal of Hulk’s son Skaar, but again the two don’t appear to be linked, so why is wong getting involved and what does it mean for the MCU?
What’s Wong up to with Abomination?
The end-credits scene in She-Hulk isn’t the first time that Wong has come to collect Emil. That was back in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings where he needed a worthy challenger to battle with to complete his ascension to the role of Sorcerer Supreme.
AdvertisementHowever, he put him back the last time around, whereas this looks like more of a permanent breakout with talk of shared fridges and connectivity in Kamar-Taj. Maybe, it’s just a simple case of Wong owing Emil a favour for battling with him in the Shang-Chi cage fight test, but either way it’s clearly going to have ramification for more MCU films.
The reality is that Wong gets around, but then he’s the Sorcerer Supreme, so he needs to in order to fulfill his job of protecting earth from powerful mystical threats. That means that he crops up in a lot of films, including Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Shang-Chi, Avengers, and Spider-Man No Way Home.
AdvertisementNo other character has quite as many crossovers, so if Abomination is going with Wong it’s fair to say that he’s bound to crop up in a film or two later on down the line. The question is where and why Wong has decided to take him in the first place.
As mentioned earlier there’s the whole favour thing that can explain it away and in all fairness Wong had previously offered him residence at Kamar-Taj, which Blonski declined. Maybe, he’s had a change of heart and decided to take him up on the offer, but we’re betting that there’s more to this story than that.
You’ve only got to look at the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to see that Wong needs extra protection for Kamar-Taj, so maybe he’s persuaded Abomination to take up residence to help sure up the defenses. If that isn’t enough, Wong also knows that the Ten Rings are sending out a beacon throughout the whole of the multiverse, so maybe he’s bringing Emil in to support him if it turns out to be a threat.

The last time we saw Wong transporting characters to Kamar-Taj was at the end of Shang-Chi when we discovered the Beacon. With both the bearer of the rings and Katy in tow, he then called Hulk and Captain Marvel to help with the efforts.
However, Captain Marvel sort of got sideswiped with the place swapping that took place with Kamala and Monica Rambeau at the end of Ms. Marvel, so maybe Wong is just building up as much support as possible just in case. Clearly, both Ms. Marvel’s power bracelet and the Ten Rings have set off a chain of events and that’s going to mean trouble at some point.
The first possible film that spins off from this will be The Marvels, featuring Kamala Khan, Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau. There’s nothing concrete about Wong or Abomination featuring in the cast, but it’s definitely a possibility with the magical breakout at the end of She-Hulk and Wong’s link to Carol.
Another option is that they’ll wait for Shang-Chi 2 to drop to include them both, because Carol seemed to be working on her own things without needing help. There’s no date or confirmation about a sequel, so it’s still up in the air, but the She-Hulk scene does add a little more weight to its prospects.
Finally, it could all be tied to the arrival of Hulk with his son Skaar. Maybe Wong is building in a little contingency plan just in case they get a bit too smashy. Again, there’s no film confirmed as of yet, but it does look like the MCU is building towards some kind of World War Hulk inspired story. We’ve had Planet Hulk aspects in Thor Ragnarok and now we’ve got Skaar, so it’s kind of moving in the direction.
