Where to find Silver Lynel in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

Whether you’ve seen it with the dangerous monsters entry in the compendium, or you’ve heard it’s parts make the best Fuse weapons, here’s what you need to know about where to find the Silver Lynel in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. The reality is that there aren’t that many of the other versions of the monster in TotK and with the Silver variant being the strongest, they’re even more difficult to find.

You should definitely be prepared for a tough fight when you do track it down, because Silver Lynel have incredibly thick skin. It’s like an out armor that you have to get rid of before you can defeat it, so we’ll also add in some tips to destroy this in seconds after we cover the location.

Where to find Silver Lynel in TotK

The good news is that it isn’t particularly difficult to find a consistent Silver Lynel location in TotK. The bad news is that it’s a lot more difficult to take down than the rest of them and the place where you find it means doing a boss run of all of them.

The place that you need to find is the Floating Coliseum in the Depths just to the north east of the Great Abandoned Central Mine. You get to it by dropping down the Hyrule Field Chasm, which you’ve probably already done as part of Josha’s chasm investigation quests, so you might have a lightroot that you can fast travel to.

You’ll need to climb up a few plants to be able to get enough height to use the glider to get to the Lynel arena. If you look down into the Coliseum you should see a blocked chest in the middle and the prize inside is the Majora’s Mask, which only adds to the rewards for taking it on.

However, you will need to defeat five progressively more challenging Lynels in a row to be able to get it, but this is something you want to do for the farming opportunities, so you might as well start now. You can see the location for where to find the Great Abandoned Central Mine in the map below. From there, you just need to go north east and you should start to see the outline of the arena on your mini-map as you get closer.

The first Lynel is pretty easy with a good Fuse weapon and once you’ve got the process down for your perfect dodges and flurry rush combos then you should breeze through them. Dodge sideways for attacks that come forwards like the charge and overhead strike, and dodge backwards for a flip to get out of the way of swipes.

You can read our post on how to get the Majora’s Mask for more details on how to make it through the first four stages of the Lynel arena. Head shots are very helpful, though, if you think you’re good to go, so make sure you’ve got a strong bow with you.

If you don’t have the accuracy for head shots, you can either use Keese eyeballs on your arrows to make them home in to get the shot, or you can take to the air to get bullet time. A rocket shield is a good option, along with a bomb flower fused to your shield to gives you a massive boost into the air with a shield surf jump, but this only works once.

Instead, you can Fuse a Wing device to your shield and shield surf jump even higher. With this you can go into bullet time throughout the fight at the arena to get the advantage.

How to defeat the Silver Lynel

We’ve put together a lot of detail on how to fight the Silver monster with our post on the how to defeat the last Lynel in the Arena, so take a read if you’re struggling. However, the secret to vaporizing its armor shield is Shard of the Light Dragon’s Spike.

You can find these on the Light Dragon’s back next to the big spikes it has, and you can farm a good amount every time you get up there. Fuse it to one of your weapons and this has got an armor breaking property that will disintegrate it and make the Silver Lynel vulnerable to normal attacks.

Now that it has no protection, you can use the tips above to take it down relatively quickly. If you’ve got time, you can use the material you pick up from the last Lynel fight to get an even stronger Fuse weapon for the Silver Lynel, which will help you defeat it quicker.

The good news continues, because you can take on the arena after every blood moon to give you an excellent location for Lynel part farming. Now that you know where to find the Silver Lynel, you’ll be able to return over and over again to boost your weapons for other monsters.
