The Pyramids Centre water park in Portsmouth is like Narnia for me. I’ve only ever been there as a kid and now I’m not too sure the place ever really existed. However, the news that We Are Scientists will be kick starting their 2010 UK tour at the very place I’d made mythically amazing confirms its existence in the here and now (unless I’m imagining it all, in which case, please, somebody say something for christ’s sake). Either way, in my world they’re playing an acoustic set in their Speedos from the top balcony of the water slides.
Despite a lacklustre 3rd Album, Barbara, on which the single Rules Don’t Stop was a particular low point, this is a band I will always hold deer t’ me ‘eart, because they have created some of the best music released in the last ten years… After Hours, Nobody Move, Nobody Gets Hurt, The Great Escape, It’s A Hit.
Couple that with a first stop at the Pyramids Centre and they’re on their way to becoming mythological too. The last time I saw them live, Glastonbury 2008, I was blind drunk and can’t remember a single thing. Maybe I imagined that too. Who’s there…
