Venom 3 Age Rating, UK Release Date and All Trailers

Venom 3 Age Rating, UK Release Date and All Trailers

Venom 3, The Last Dance, is shaping up to be one of the year’s most anticipated superhero films thanks to stand-out trailers (watch them all below), so here’s the release date and age rating certificate for both the UK and North America. We’ll also cover details on the plot, cast, and runtime to give you everything you need to know about the upcoming movie.

As you can tell from the full title, Venom 3 looks set to be the final chapter in the Tom Hardy symbiote story. It’s been a pretty wild ride and if the trailers are anything to go by then it’ll take things to the next level with a full-scale invasion for Eddie and Venom to face.

With so much vicious intent behind the plot, there was even more debate about the age rating for Venom 3 on both sides of the Atlantic. The release date is nearly here, and you can find out the latest details about the certification in the section below.

The previous two films, Venom and Let There Be Carnage, have been hugely successful, putting the MCU to shame in recent years. As a result, it’ll be interesting to see whether or not Venom 3 can cap it all off with another huge box office hit and its late October release date could play a big part in its box office potential.

What is the Venom 3 UK release date

The official Venom 3 release date has been scheduled for Friday the 25th October 2024, putting it in a good place for the Autumn term break in the US. As things stand, The Last Dance will be coming out in the UK on the same date, however, things are often a little different over here, so it could be a little earlier in the week, so we’ll update things with more details closer to the date.

If you’re more of a watch-at-home kind of movie-lover then you might be looking at when the streaming release is likely to happen. Venom 3 will undoubtedly come out on Early Access / Home Premiere shortly after its cinematic release, so it should be available for home viewing ahead of Christmas 2024.

The US usually gets its streaming releases a little earlier than the UK, but it should only be a week or so in advance. However, if you’re waiting for it on standard rental at a more reasonable price then you’re probably looking at Q1 2025. It should then be at least a year or so before it comes out on streaming services like Netflix, but we’ll update things here with more details as they’re confirmed.

There’s nothing official in terms of the Venom 3 DVD and Blu-ray release date, but again this will probably also be Q1 2025. There’s a very distant chance it might be available pre-Christmas in North America on physical formats, but there isn’t much time between then and the cinema release.

Venom 3 age rating certificate (UK & US)

US screenings will have a PG-13 certification and The British Board of Film Certification (BBFC) has announced the official Venom 3 age rating to be 15 for the UK now that we’re closer to the release date. This matches the previous two films, which picked up the same certificates on both sides of the Atlantic with PG-13 in the US and 15 in the UK by the BBFC.

This was a good indicator for the rating for the third film, but was possible in the push to go big for the final dance things could have been a bit more full on. However, it would have needed to be something significant to make the jump from the PG-13 age rating to an R in America or a 15 to an 18 certification in the UK.

There haven’t been many superhero films out in 2024, so you’ll have to go back to 2023’s Aquaman II for a comparison. It had a UK age rating of 12, but the Venom 3 story is a bit more toothy, with an invading alien species boasting killer appetites. As a result, 15 was a good shout for the UK and the equivalent in the US is PG-13.

More international age rating certificates:

Australia – Venom 2 had an age rating of M

Canada – Let There Be Carnage had a 13+ certification

New Zealand – Previous film: M

Runtime

As with the age rating, the Venom 3 runtime will be announced in the build-up to the release date. The first film in the series was 112 minutes long and the 2nd was even shorter at just 97 minutes long, so they’re far from over-padded. However, as this is shaping up to be the last story in the series it could be a little longer, but we’re still expecting it to be no longer than 120 minutes.

Story

In a nutshell, Venom 3 picks up with Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) and Venom (also Hardy) as they face the might of Knull and his monstrous invasion. A full-scale attack on Earth is brewing and it seems like it might be up to them to stop it somehow.

You can see the mayhem of the situation brewing in the trailers below. Clearly Knull (shhh, don’t say his name) needs something from the duo following their multi-verse hops, and he’s sent his Xenophages to get them. You can’t miss them in the trailer. They’re a bit like a cross between a Xenomorph and one of Stranger Things’ Demogorgons.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Knull will be in the mix as the creator of the Symbiotes, which you can find out more about in the cast and crew section for Venom 3 below. There’s also the potential for cameos from other films from the Sony Spider-Man Universe. A full invasion would be a lot for Eddie and Venom to take on, but with a little help they might be able to do it, so the question is who.

It’s shaping up to be an exciting culmination of the series, so we’re counting down the days to the release date. We’ll also know a little more about the nature of the story when the age rating is confirmed, so head on back to keep tabs on The Last Dance.

Venom 3 Cast & Crew

Venom 3 was written by Tom Hardy and co-writer, Kelly Marcel, who also wrote the screenplay for the previous movies (alongside Scott Rosenburg and Jeff Pinker in the case of Venom 1). Marcel is also the director this time around, picking up the reigns from Andy Serkis, who directed Let There Be Carnage. She’ll be making her directorial debut, but from the look of the trailers below, Venom 3 looks set to pick up pretty smoothly from the previous releases.

The Last Dance has a lot of the returning cast members from the Venom series with Tom Hardy in the lead role. Stephen Graham stars as Detective Patrick Mulligan, who looks set to turn into Toxin with his own symbiote combination in full flight. Peggy Lu is back as Mrs Chen, who has a dance number in Las Vegas. It doesn’t look like Michelle Williams will be playing Eddie’s ex, Anne, but there’s scope for a surprise cameo to help save the day.

Newcomers to the cast for Venom 3 include Chiwetel Ejiofor (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) as a military man on a mission to contain the crisis. He’ll be joined by Juno Temple (Ted Lasso) as a scientist studying the aliens, and Alana Ubach (Bombshell) in an undisclosed role. Rhys Ifans (Spider-Man: No Way Home) has also been cast as a character called Martin if the credits in the trailer are anything to go on.

That leaves the gaping abyss that is Knull to fill. The actor hasn’t been named as of yet and the only shot in the trailers that features the character is side on, so it’s hard to confirm things either way. The nose and forehead put a little stock in the rumors that it might be Norman Reedus, but we’ll have to wait for the release to find out.

Venom 3 trailers

From the look of the trailers below, Venom 3 is going to continue with the same darkly irreverent take on the Eddie Brock symbiote story as before. This time, though, everyone is out to get them, with the symbiote’s running from the power of Knull and the might of earth attempting to control it all.

If the trailers are anything it’s pretty clear that they’re a clear warning that things are about to change forever for the duo. There are plenty of foreboding references to a split in the offing to save everyone, even though Venom tells Eddie that he’s with him to the end.

The final Venom 3 trailer takes this to the highest level with the sheer volume of Knull’s symbiote-eating Xenophage monsters running around. These are what you can see tearing through the atmosphere and in the comics they’re the creation of Knull who wants to take back control of the hive mind.

We’ll update you with more details on the Venom 3 age rating, release, story, cast, runtime and trailers as they’re. You can see more on other upcoming films over at our movie news section. You can also find out more about The Last Dance with the official website at https://venom.movie/.
