Vampire Weekend are about to return to the UK soil again soon for a series of four gigs throughout November 2013. The mini tour comes on the back of the New York band’s release of their widely acclaimed third studio album, Modern Vampires of the City, last month. With such a small number of UK gigs tickets probably won’t hang around forever, so if you’re a Vampire Weekend fan then you’ll need to move fairly quickly.
The tour dates take in Birmingham’s NIA, London’s O2 Arena, the First Direct Arena in Leeds and the Manchester Arena, so you may need to travel a little to make it to one of the gigs. Tickets prices are £28.50 for all of the venues except for the London O2 gig, which varies between £20 and £31.50. All tickets prices are excluding booking fees and are available at Ticketmaster, Ents 24 and Gigwise. They’ll be supported by Noah and the Whale.
Vampire Weekend UK tour dates 2013:
Tuesday, November 12th 2013 – NIA Birmingham’
Wednesday, November 13th 2013 – London O2
Saturday, November 16th 2013 – Leeds First Direct Arena
Sunday, November 17th 2013 – Manchester Arena
The UK tour is a part of a bigger European series for Vampire Weekend, who will also be playing Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris. They’ve also got a number of festival slots this summer following on from this year’s Glastonbury set, including this weekend’s Longitude Festival, as well as South Korea’s Ansan Valley Rock Festival, the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan and the Dcode Fest in Madrid Spain on the 14th September 2013.
With three albums under their belts Vampire Weekend gigs this year are going to be crammed with hits from their first two albums, Vampire Weekend and Contra, as well as giving you a chance hear their latest material live. If you haven’t heard much of the new album, check out our Modern Vampires of the City review to find out more and to listen to their lead single, Diane Young.
The band has got a comic streak too, which you can see in the interview below with Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire), who went on to direct their Roseland Ballroom show. He’s apparently a distant relative of Chris Baio (bass guitar), which turns out to be pretty funny:
