Transformers Rise of the Beasts UK release date, age rating and more

Transformers Rise of the Beasts UK release date, age rating

Paramount Pictures has just landed with the huge news that the Transformers Rise of the Beasts UK release date is on the way in 2023 (full details below). You can also find out more about the story, cast, age rating certificate and runtime latest, as well as watching the trailer.

It’s been more than five years since Transformers The Last Knight came out, so we were a little overdue on a sequel. COVID probably had a big part in the gap between films, but with the trailer in the bag and release date window confirmed it’s time to start to look forward to Optimus Prime’s next big battle to save earth.

Story

As you might expect, a new threat is on its way to the planet, so Prime manages to hunt down the recently resurfaced Beast Transformers. Its an adaptation of the Beast Wars franchise, which included an animated TV series that built on the original timeline 300 years in the future.

However, in Transformers Rise of the Beasts, the action takes place shortly after the events of The Last Knight. The good Beast Transformers are called Maximals and the baddies are Predacons and there’s also going to be the Terrorcons, which are even more evil and monstrous than anything we’ve ever seen in the series.

These are more than likely the “darkness coming” that Prime refers to in the opening trailer, which you can see below. Things are clearly building towards an Avengers Endgame style mega battle with all three forms in play, which could look epic on the big screen.

The continuation timeline also means that the gorilla Maximal might not be Optimus Primal like he is in the TV series. However, that could still work as there has been another Prime in the Transformers films before with Sentinel Prime in Dark of the Moon.

Transformers Rise of the Beast UK release date

The arrival of the trailer has confirmed that the Transformers Rise of the Beasts UK release date will be June 8th, 2023. They hadn’t set out an exact date for the UK initially, but this was probably more about giving the international release a general time-frame to aim for, which would allow these to vary a little.

It’ll come out six years after Transformers The Last Knight, and an even more impressive sixteen years since the opening film in the series landed, launching the careers of Shia LeBeouf and Megan Fox in a big way. With such a big summer blockbuster release window it will have at least a little competition at the box office, but there are no big films out on the same weekend.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse arrived in cinemas a week earlier and we’ll have Indian Jones and the Dial of Destiny later in the month, so it won’t all be plain sailing for the latest Transformers adventure. There’s definitely an element of audience crossover for all three, so it was possible that we could have seen some date changes, but as it turns out they’ve all stuck to their slots.

With Rise of the Beasts out in June 2023, it should get a DVD, Blu-ray and general digital release date around mid to late September 2023. We’ll update you with more information for home media as it becomes available.

America release date

While things were a bit more general in the UK, the North America release date for Transformers Rise of the Beast has been confirmed for the 9th June 2023. This was a pretty good indicator that it would be out in Britain around the same date and as it turns out it’s a day earlier.

As that’s the case it will miss colliding with Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which came out on the 2nd June 2023. It’s a similar story for the next Indian Jones film, which is due later in the month, so that could guarantee the number one spot for the 6th installment in the Transformers big screen franchise.

Age rating certificate latest

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has announced the official Transformers Rise of the Beasts age rating, giving it a 12A certificate now that we’re closer to the release date. There was already a lot that we could take from the PG-13 certificate that is has been given over in North America. The previous five films had similar age ratings in the US, and the equivalent in the UK is 12.

This gave us a pretty good target for Transformer 6 in the UK and that has gone on to be the case with the official confirmation. You can expect some moderate action violence and a little language consideration, with director Steven Caple Jr. following in the footsteps of the previous films’ age rating stance pretty closely.

Cast

As things stands the new additions to the Transformers Rise of the Beasts cast include Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback. Peter Cullin will be back as Optimus Prime too, having voiced the character right from the very beginning in the 1980s animated TV series.

Runtime

As with the age rating certificate, the Transformers Rise of the Beasts runtime will be confirmed as we get closer to the release date. In general, the other films have been 2 and a half hours long, give or take ten minutes or so, which should give you a ball park for the length of the 6th film in the series.

Transformers Rise of the Beasts trailer

Trailer 1 for Transformers Rise of the Beasts came out on the 1st December 2022, around seven months prior to the release. It sets the scene for the story for the film and introduced us to the new member of the cast.

The action looks as impressive as ever and if the trailer is anything to go by the Beast Transformers are going to look pretty impressive battling it out on the big screen when the release date comes around.
