2019 has been a year of bitter sweet ending with Avengers Endgame and X-Men Dark Phoenix delivering saga finales, but it looks like Toy Story 4 will keep things moving to infinity and beyond for Woody, Buzz and the gang. The fourth installment in the series will be coming to the big screen in July, which means that the DVD, Blu-Ray, iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4, and digital rental release date for the UK is just around the corner too.
There had been rumours that Toy Story 4 would be the last film, but it looks like things will continue beyond the 2019 release. With a host of positive reviews (and one terribly written and po-faced review from Peter Bradshaw at the Guardian, who appears to have forgotten that it’s a kids film), it looks like there may well be more from Andy’s former toys as they do all they can for their new child ward, Bonnie.
Every entry in the Toy Story series has been packed with great animation, wonderful characters and a mesmerising plot and it sounds like number four will land with the same magical formula. With the success of the previous films the DVD, Blu-ray and digital download release was always going to be one of the biggest of the year, but if the buzz surrounding the film is anything to go by then it could well top the charts throughout the winter.
The story continues on from the end of 3, where the toys moved on from Andy, who has grown up now, and found a new home with Bonnie. The adventure starts when new toy Forky goes missing on a family trip. Woody, Buzz and the rest of the toys pitch in to rescue him, which leaves them all with an epic road trip to make to get back to Bonnie.
UK DVD, Blu-ray, iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4, Amazon and digital download release date
The DVD and Blu-ray release date UK for Toy Story 4 has been confirmed for the 21st October 2019 following on from its run on the big screen earlier in the year. It’ll also be available on 3D Bly-ray and 4K Ultra HD, if you want to add to the experience for the home entertainment release.
However, the earliest you’ll be able to buy the film will be with the iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4 and Amazon Video digital release, which was two weeks earlier on the 14th October 2019. The digital rental will then be out on the same date as the DVD, Blu-ray, 3D and 4K release.
The third film was 4.49 GB at 1080p HD and 102-minutes long. 4 is a cool 100-minutes long, so you’ll need to budget around the same amount of storage for digital download. It’s nowhere near as big as longer films like Avengers Endgame, but you still might want to check your hard-drive space before buying it on iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4 or Amazon Video.
Cinema release date
Toy Story 4 has a UK release date in cinemas on Friday the 21st June 2019 with Odeon, Cineworld and Vue all going big for its stint on the big screen. It’s out on the same day in the US, but it had its premier earlier in the month on the 11th June 2019 at the El Capitan Theatre In LA.
You can follow the official series Twitter page at twitter.com/toystory if you want to see more on the film in the build up to the home entertainment release.
Toy Story 4 age rating
The DVD, Blu-ray and digital release for Toy Story 4 has been given an age rating of PG by the British Board of Film Classification. It’s pretty much the standard classification for all Disney Pixar films and while we’d love to see an 18 from them some day TS4 isn’t the right place to start.
