#10 – Cobble Stone Paths

In at number ten on our list of the best paths in Animal Crossing New Horizons is the cobble stone path. This is one that you can definitely design for yourself, but there are plenty of codes available if you just want to import some of the best out there.

If you’re planning to make it yourself then you just need to think about doing the geometry on the way your tiles will match up. You’ll probably want a good few tiles to give it enough unique character, so it might be a bit time consuming. However, once you get the first one done you should be able to build things out nicely from there.

You can see the video above to get some inspiration, or to get the codes for the cobble stone paths featured. The cobble stones design is around 21 seconds into the short, so you should be able to find it relatively easily.

#9 – Wooden Decking Paths

Nothing says a nice relax on the garden more than a little decking to put your outdoor furniture on. This path custom design is probably even easier than the cobble stones above, so it could be replicated if you want to get creative.

You can see some great options in the video below to get you started. Each of the wooden paths featured also include the code if you want to add it in without having to master the design elements.

The best wooden decking option is actually called the wooden pier at 34 seconds into the video. If you stick around for another 9 seconds you’ll also find a train tracks custom paths, which is pretty cool. It only narrowly missed out on our top 10 list, because everyone knows you shouldn’t walk on train tracks, no matter how nostalgic you get for Stand By Me.

#8 – Stepping Stone Paths

This custom design will allow you to hop, skip and jump along your own stepping stone path, which looks great with grass underneath it. If you’re looking for tips on how to make custom designs like this, the video below by April Honey is definitely worth checking out.

If you get stuck, the code for it is MA-3549-2994-2249, so you can just import it to save time. However, we definitely recommend watching the video to get a feel for the process of designing your own paths from scratch.

#7 – The Galaxy Path

April Honey gets a second entry in the top ten paths with her galaxy design. It’s a genius idea that looks stunning and if you’re looking for an Animal Crossing New Horizons design YouTube channel to follow, she’s definitely at the top of the shortlist.

Galaxy paths are great to add a darker, more mysterious look to your islands. They also go well with sci-fi styles, so it’s got a good couple of looks that it can support. April Honey’s creator code is MA-9869-8558-1008 if you want to track down more of her work and you can see the video below to go intergalactic planetary on your island.

#6 – Brick Paths

In addition to the cobble stone path featured earlier in the top 10, the video also includes a host of other brick gems that you might want to check out. These can add a lot of character to your island, especially around your houses to give them a little more charm.

If you want to go even further, the video below throws in another 20 options for you to try. Each of them have the codes on the screen during the short video. You’ll be able to combine the tiles to give your paths different shapes as you need them.

#5 – Tetris Block Path

Number 5 in our list doesn’t actually exist yet, so if you want to make a Tetris block path design, we’ll gladly add you in. However, as we were putting together the post we realized how cool it would look linking in with the video gaming heritage of the two titles.

It would be ridiculously easy to put together and it would also make a good place to start your design odyssey. Drop a comment below or over on our Twitter page to let us know the code or link to the video if you have a YouTube channel.

#4 – Diagonal Paths

Diagonal paths fly in the face of what you might assume possible in Animal Crossing New Horizons with its customary 4 directions. However, with a little clever design you can add in another four directions for your routes throughout your island.

You can see how they work in the video below and there’s no reason why you can’t make any of the other paths in our top ten go diagonal with a little work. Hopefully, when Nintendo finally announced the successor to the Nintendo Switch and the next Animal Crossing game we’ll get diagonal paths as standard. But for now you’ll need to use this creative solution.

#3 – Sports Field Paths

Here’s where things get super creative. With this style of custom design you can pretty much make any kind of sports field path that you like. The one in the video below is for football (soccer in the US), but there’s no reason you can’t adapt it for American football, basketball, baseball, tennis or whatever your favorite sport is.

Obviously, it’ll take a little time to redesign it, but hopefully you get the idea from the video below. The cool thing about the football pitch lines path is that there are also goal post items that you can get in Animal Crossing New Horizons to be able to complete the look.

There’s also a football, but, sadly, your islanders can’t interact with it in the game. Again, hopefully this is something that they add into the next Animal Crossing game to make it even more fun than ever before.

#2 – Where we’re going, we don’t need roads… but lets have some road paths anyway

If you’re looking for that big city on a little island look then you’re definitely going to need roads. The custom paths design has twists and turns build into it, so you can adapt it to most situations.

It doesn’t currently have a diagonal set of tiles, but with the tutorial above on diagonal paths you should be able to adapt it if you want to. There are also things like zebra crossing tiles that you can use to add in even more features.

Drop a comment below if you go the film reference in the title for #2. The only hint we’re giving you is, “great SCOTT!!!”, so now it’s down to you.

#1 – The Rainbow Path

And in at number 1 on our list of the best Animal Crossing New Horizons paths is this epic Rainbow Road design. It’s inspired by the Super Mario Kart tracks of the same name, but it’s definitely got its roots in the original game on the Super NES back in the 1990s.

You can change the colors if you want, but the ones featured are the closest to the track itself. It makes for a very brick addition to your island and it’s one that a lot of gamers won’t already have, so something new for you to try.

That’s it for our to 10 list of the best custom paths for Animal Crossing New Horizons. Check out our computer games section for more gaming news and features, or visit the Nintendo website at www.nintendo.com.
