On a night that should have been all about the headline act’s new music, the support band, The School, dished out a girl group pop lesson that saw them steel some of The Pipettes’ thunder. Featuring trumpet blasts, violins, lots of percussion and an air punch finale, they put up a wall of sound that was filled with different elements.
With their own debut album ‘Loveless Unbeliever’ just released, The School have been touring all over with their orchestral girl group styling and The Lexington was just big enough to fit them all on stage. Despite crossing streams, they put on an old school 60s infused show of pop class (bad puns are hard to avoid, by the way).
The Cardiff band has still got a few more gigs left of their summer tour, including a couple of Spanish harbours:
