It’s that time again, where you need to buy a blouse for your sister, platform shoes for your bestie and you need a new LBD for your Christmas work party. Oh yes, it’s time for the Christmas shop. Some love it, some hate it, but your Christmas shopping experience can very much depend on what type of Christmas shopper you are! Here are the four types of classic Christmas shoppers that I tend to encounter – do you recognize any?
- The organized one – These shoppers have been preparing for Christmas for a long time. They tend to start shopping as soon as mince pies are in M&S (which is in September if you didn’t know). Their handbags’ transform to a Christmas shopping survival kit, which includes THE LIST, pens, water, snacks, a fully charged phone and even extra carrier bags.
- The laid back shopper – The laid back shopper believes they’ll find inspiration on-the-go, doesn’t bother with lists… Until a few days before Christmas where they morph into the PANICKED shopper, who just grabs whatever they can find (here’s hoping they have gift receipts.)
- The angry shopper – These shoppers are scary to encounter…Try to avoid at all costs. Sale assistants beware – they want to know why the queues are so long, why items are beginning to sell out, and why you can’t answer all their questions!
- The last minute shopper – These are the shoppers who refuse to do anything in the early run up to Christmas. They can often be heard saying ‘It’s too early!’ or ‘I can’t think about that now!’ The ‘it’s-really-nearly-Christmas’ bomb hits them pretty hard, causing them to shop until they drop on the 23rd and 24th December.
My Christmas shopping this year has so far gone as follows: Ring mum to ask what the family wants. Order online.
I have seen stressed Christmas shoppers first hand, up close and personal, and I do not envy them. Running around shops looking for dress sizes and waiting in mammoth size queues is not my idea of fun. Ordering clothes online is great as you can see a huge range of clothes from across the high street, compare prices and sometimes even get your hands on items that haven’t been released in stores. And all in just a few clicks from the comfort of your own home!
Now, I know some of you will be shaking your heads, thinking “Oh look what technology has done to us!” But it’s been an absolute godsend. Don’t get me wrong, Christmas shopping can be fun, and I enjoy going along the high street during the festive season, but I enjoy it even more knowing that the majority of my Christmas shopping is already done and dusted, and is on its way to my front door!
