The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 5 who are the Madalorians Bo Katan needs to find and where are they

The plot thickens in The Mandalorian Season 3 Episode 5 leaving us with the question who are the Mandalorians Bo-Katan needs to find and where are they in the Galaxy. The reveal at the end of the episode gives us a lot of clues, but if you haven’t seen the episode yet, you might want to finish it before reading on.

Episode 5 saw the group of Mandalorians responding to Greef Karga’s request for help when pirates attack his capital on the planet of Nevarro. They obviously finish them off in fine style, but it culminates in the Armorer giving Bo-Katan a quest to reunite the Mandalorian people.

The aim is to bring enough of them together to launch a bid to re-take their home planet of Mand’alore. The Armorer things she’s the best person for the job because she saw the Mythasaur and has links to the other Mandalorians.

She asks that she walk both paths, so she can take off her helmet while she’s completing the question. For anyone not too sure who the other Mandalorians are, or where they might be, you can find out more in the section below.

We’ll then follow that up with details on Moff Gideon and how he might be linked to the whole situation. The reveal that he was extracted while in transit to face trial for his crimes against the Galaxy seems to link to Bo-Katan’s quest, so we’ll fill in the blanks in the section below that.

Who are the other Mandalorians and what happened to them?

To answer this question you have to go back to Season 2 of The Mandalorian, which saw Din taking the fight to Moff Gideon with a little help from Bo-Katan and her band of Mandalorians. These don’t walk the Way like Din and the Armorer, so they don’t wear helmets, but they’re just as fearsome in battle.

Bo’s aim was to defeat Moff Gideon and claim the Darksaber to solidify her claim to become the ruler of Mand’alore and the other Mandalorians in her group were a part of that plan. While the last season did see Gideon defeated, it was at the hands of Din Jarin, who had to pick up the Darksaber to save the day.

That meant that Bo-Katan’s claim didn’t go to plan, but the season ended without going into this in that mach detail. Fast forward to Season 3 and at the end of the very first episode Din and Grogu seek out Bo to ask about returning to the planet, so that the Mandalorian can bath in the living waters of Mand’alore and return to the Way.

During their brief chat she tells him that her followers left her when she returned without the Darksaber. It’s this group that the Armorer tasked her to go to find at the end of Episode 5 and it’s going to be a big part of the rest of Season 3 if the Moff Gideon reveal is anything to go by.

She also goes on to explain that after the battle, the rest of the Mandalorians have taken to being mercenaries. It sounds like they scattered in different direction, so there may be multiple groups in different locations, but we’ll cover this in a bit more detail in the section below.

Did the other Mandalorians help extract Moff Gideon and where are they now?

The reality is that since the destruction of Mand’alore, the people of the planet have had to do some pretty grim jobs in the past just to get by. You’ve only got to look at Din’s job in the very first episode of Season 1, where he was hired to get Grogu, to see that not all Mandalorian efforts are noble.

Admittedly, he did go on to save him and form one of the best partnerships in the Galaxy, but the point is that they can take bad jobs. It’s possible that one or more of the mercenary Mandalorians have been hired by Gideon’s people (probably Elia Kane – the one torturing Dr Pershing with the Mind Flayer at the end of Episode 3) and they were a part of the operation to extract him from the ship.

The fact that a Beskar fragment was found on the Lambda shuttle carrying Gideon definitely implies that at least on of this group of Mandalorains is behind the extraction. It’s possible that they attacked the ship to seek revenge on him, but that doesn’t explain the carnage on the shuttle, so this is probably a job they’ve been given.

We’re expecting Bo-Katan to find some of the mercenary Mandalorians in Episode 6 and that they’ll say some of the others have gone dark. She’ll then have to find them and discover the whole Moff Gideon thing for herself, which will bring Din into the action for the big climax to Season 3.

One possible target is the quick-tempered Koska Reeves (played by Mercedes Varnado – AKA Sasha Banks from WWE), who was one of Bo-Katan’s Night Owls during the events of Season 2. It’s possible that in her anger and disappointment, she has decided to work with the enemy with some deluded plan of her own.

We’ll find out more about the other groups Bo-Katan has been tasked to find in the next episode of Season 3. Hopefully, it all comes together to deliver an epic ending, which has been the hallmark of The Mandalorian since the very beginning.
