The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Seized Construct guide – How to defeat the giant robot

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Seized Construct guide - How to defeat the giant robot

The corrupted giant robot can feel tough to begin with, but with our Seized Construct guide for The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom you’ll have a good idea about how to defeat it. It’s a strange caged fight with an electrified fence around the edge, so it’s out of character from the rest of the TotK bosses.

You might think that it’s nothing like any bosses in The Legend of Zelda series, but there are definitely hints of the mechanical knight at the ancient ruins in Link’s Awakening. It gets a lot more wild in the end, but if you fought the boss in the recent remake then you can use some of the tactics again.

You take on the Seized Construct just after you build your own giant robot at the Construct Factory, so you can use it to help you in this fight. It’s possible to go it alone as Link and finish it off just as quick, so we’ll talk you through how to defeat it with both methods to give you some options.

How to defeat the Seized Construct with Mineru

If you prefer to take on the Seized Construct as Mineru then it’s a good idea to focus on a block and attack process. If you just wade in with arms flailing then you’ll really struggle to do much damage and take a lot of hits in the process.

The trick is to be a bit more patient and allow the Seized Construct to take a swing at you first. You then block it with Zl and Zr together and this will stun it momentarily giving you enough time to fire back with your own giant robot arms using L and R.

After a few hits it will get knocked back and if you’ve got the angles right it’ll fly into the electric fence around the outside. The damage that it takes from the arm swings is tiny, but when it gets electrocuted on the edge it has a big impact on its health bar.

Having a mace on Mineru’s arm doesn’t really change much in terms of getting the knock back or the damage you inflict, so don’t waste time and effort on that. If you’ve got one already, fine, but don’t go chasing a replacement as it’ll just leave you open to damage.

After it gets shocked it’ll recover and jump across to the other side of the ring and start firing blasts at you. Weave left and right to avoid them, as you can see in the video below, and close the ground to it until it stops firing.

You can then do another block and three strikes attack to send it into the fence again. If you’re close enough you can hit it again for an extra mini electrocution that does a smaller amount of damage, but it all adds up to help you defeat the Seized Construct a little faster.

Do more blocks and strikes after it jumps again and repeat that if you’re still not close enough to knock it into the fence again. If you’ve still got the cannon on your arm from the trip over from the Construct Factory then you can use this to fire at it to speed up the process and give you an instant shock if the first knock back got it close to the fence, but not quite close enough.

Avoid its giant robot dance mode crazy arms by keeping your distance and again you can use the cannon if you’ve got it. If not then you’re back to blocks and counter strikes to finish off the first phase of the Seized Construct boss fight.

If you haven’t got the cannon then the second part of our guide will be a bit trickier. If you do then you can simply shoot it down and repeat the processes from the first phase. Either way, you need to avoid getting knocked into the fence, because this could one-shot you if you’re hearts are already low.

Without the cannon, you’ll need to exit Mineru and use Link’s arrows to shoot it down. Bomb or electric arrow will have the biggest impact, and then when it’s back down on the ground you can either get back into Mineru to do the strikes to fire it to the fence or skip ahead to the section below on how to defeat the Seized Construct with Link.

After a few waves of this you’ll bring down the mad giant robot’s health bar and beat it once and for all. This will then add Mineru to your roster of attack options for the rest of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom alongside Sidon, Riju, Tulin and Yunobu.

How to defeat the Seized Construct with Link

If you prefer the boss fight as Link or you don’t have the cannon for Mineru then it’s all about shield block and sword charge attacks. The spin move will fire the Seized Construct into the electric fence and you’ll get your damage that way.

It’s easy to move out of the way of its attacks in the first phase with Link being faster than Mineru and you can also avoid its attacks by circling around it on the swipes. It gets trickier in phase 2 when it’s in the air, but as mentioned above bomb or shock arrows will get the job done.

If you don’t have many of these you can go back to an earlier save point and restock to get enough for the boss fight. The toughest move to avoid is it’s twin lasers, but for this you just need to sprint towards it as soon as you see them lighting up.

Get in your sword spin attacks, shoot it down, block, run repeat and you can easily beat the Seized Construct as Link. You’ll still get Mineru to add to your team, so if you find it easier then it’s a good approach to take.
