How to get rupees fast early on in TotK version 1.2.0?
The first point that you need to get rupees fast in TotK is when you touch down on Hyrulian soil from the Great Sky Island. You get to Lookout Landing and the shop there will sell both armor and provisions, so you might want to get your hands on some money quickly.
If that isn’t enough to motivate you, you’re also advised to go to Hebra for your first regional phenomena to take on the Wind Temple. However, it’s blowing a blizzard there, so you’ll also need to buy the Snowquill set when you get there unless you want to rely on elixirs for the entirety of the temple.

In all fairness, you can just do that, and it will take you less time, but if you’re number one priority is to get rupees fast then you’re going to want to put the trip to Hebra off for now. Unfortunately the old methods to get rupees fast (read more below) have been patched, but there is salvation with the video below, which you can do before you head off to take on Hebra and the Wind Temple.

How to get rupees fast in Version 1.1.2
If you haven’t got auto-update for The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and you’re still operating on version 1.1.2 or earlier then you can still use this method. Start by doing the camera quest with Robbie, which will see you traveling down into the Depths through the Hyrule Field Chasm.
Continue to work on the quests for him and Josha in the Depths and this will eventually lead you to the Great Abandoned Central Mine. This will also give you a Crystal refinery where you can get Large Charge Crystals in exchange for Large Zonaite, so it comes in handy if you’re trying to get more battery.
When you complete the quest to follow the statues you can talk to the construct at the mine and he’ll teach you Autobuild, which is one of the excellent abilities that you get in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. With this, you can start to print rupees on demand in Version 1.1.2.
By this stage, you should have build up a good supply of Zoanite, which you’re going to need for the process and your next port of call should be Hebra. However, instead of going to Rito Village, you should aim for Tabantha Tundra, which is to the east of Hebra Mountains (see the image below).

Here, you’ll find a stable, one of the Great Fairy Fountains and a lot of big wildlife that will give you Raw Gourmet Meat. The bears and the elk will drop it with a perfectly placed head shot arrow and once you’ve got two of them you just need to chop down a couple of trees until you get two branches in your weapons menu.
It’s a good idea to unlock the fast travel point at the Orochium Shrine north of the stables and then you can fast travel back to Lookout Landing. Here, you can start to assemble your autobuild and the more of this you can do the faster you get rupees.
Star by using Fuse to combine a branch and one of the Raw Gourmet Meats. Drop it and then repeat the process with the second set you have. You can then use Ultrahand to combine the two meat sticks side-by-side and this will will add it to your TotK Autobuild options.
Depending on how much Zonaite you have, you can then move away from your first creation and make another using Autobuild. Attach the two together side-by-side and that will give you a line of four meat sticks in a row. Move away again and this time use Autobuild to create another set of four, which will be saved in the history, and attach it on top of the first set of four.
AdvertisementRepeat this until you have a 4×5 creation of meat sticks, which will now be saved in your Autobuild history. Add this to your favorites and fast travel to the Orochium Shrine. Head out into the tundra and open Autobuild, select the 4×5, but don’t press A to build it.

Instead, just hold it there in the freezing cold snow field. This will freeze all of the Raw Gourmet Meat and turn them into ready to sell Icy Gourmet Meat meals, which are worth 40 rupees each. Pick them all up and do it again and again and again to build up a massive stock of them.
It shouldn’t take you too long to get 500 of them, which comes it at a chunky 20,000 rupees. However, the real benefit is that you will now being able to do this any time you need more cash, making it an incredibly fast process to get a lot more money in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
How to get rupees fast later on in Tears of the Kingdom (Version 1.1.2)?
Once you progress past all of the temples and unlock Tobios Hollow, you can start to use the duplication glitch. This is the ultimate fast way to get rupees in TotK. However, it does take a little time to get the setup, because you need a triple shot bow to make it work.
AdvertisementYou get these from killing Lynel, so you might want to check out our guide to getting Majora’s Mask, which will talk you through how to beat the Lynel Arena in the Depths. It’s close to the Great Abandoned Central Mine down the Hyrule Field Chasm, so you can do this when you find the area to get Autobuild.

With the triple shot Lynel Bows and the unlock to Tobios Hollow on the way to the Construct Factory, you just need an expensive item to duplicate. Either use whatever your most expensive item is, or you can use our guide on where to find diamonds to duplicate the most expensive item in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
Once you have this, head down Tobios Hollow Chasm (the route down to the Construct Factory from Dragonhead Island) and stop as soon as you start to see clouds forming on the ground. This is the point at which you transition from the ground level of Hyrule to the Depths and it’s here in this zone that you can duplicate items.
If you look up and shoot arrows fused with the expensive items (e.g. a diamond) using the trip shot Lynel bow, you’ll see that they stop mid-air. Go and collect them and you’ll have two extra, because it’ll only cost you one item to fire the three in here.
AdvertisementOnce you have the process down, repeat it, but shoot a total of six times in different locations to get an extra two items for every one you fire. This will give you an extra 12 duplicate items to sell to get rupees fast in TotK.
It takes a bit of practice to stop them from rolling back towards you, but if they do try to catch the diamonds before they roll down to the Construct Factory. The trick is to fire them in two rows, but not too high. The higher shots tend to fall closer to the edge of the slope, so they roll more. If you want to see it in action, you can see our full guide with the link below.

The limiting factor to the duplication glitch is that you need multi-shot bows. As mentioned above, you can get five of them from the Lynels from the Arena, but these are normally triple shot. However, you can get five shot bows. The Lynel down the Hyrule Castle Chasm sometimes drops one, so you might want to factor this into your rupee-making routine.
