It’s a tough string of fights to defeat five of them in the Lynel Arena in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom and the Silver Lynel you get for the last one has some serious armor. This means that he’s way tougher than all of the previous monsters, because your swords and arrows just bounce off him.
If you’ve completed all of the Tears of the Kingdom temples then you might be able to scrape through the armor with their attacks, but his massive mace sword is pretty damaging and you can go through a lot of weapons and shields if you don’t do things right. The good news is that the solution for how to defeat the Silver Lynel in the Arena is relatively simple.
AdvertisementOnce you do this you’ll get be able to smash its armor and defeat it relatively quickly to make the Arena a much easier run. Once you have the process down you’ll be able to repeat it after every Blood Moon for some good Lynel parts, weapons and shields farming to use in the rest of the TotK.

How to break the Silver Lynel armor
The key ingredient to be able to defeat the Silver Lynel is a Shard of Dragon Spike, which you can fuse to your weapons to give you an armor smashing property in TotK. It doesn’t matter which dragon you get the spike from, but the Light Dragon is an easy one as it’s always somewhere in the sky and doesn’t have any dangers when you walk on its back. Grab them from its spikes you’ll be able to come away with a good batch.

This will make short work of its armor shielding and leave it vulnerable to all of the other strategies that work against a Lynel. We’ll cover these in more details in the section below, but without the armor the Silver Lynel is way easier to take down.

How to defeat the last Lynel in the Lynel Arena
Now that your attacks aren’t just bouncing off its armor you can get into the process of smashing its standard health bar. However, as with all of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom bosses you can do this the easy way or the hard way.

To start with, you need another weapon ready to go that deals more damage than the Light Dragon Spike Fuse. Lynel Saber and Mace Horn are very good for this and you will have just taken down the White-Maned Lynel, so you can fuse these to your best weapons to help you defeat the last one.
With this done, the biggest impact attacks you can do are flurry rushes, but you need to have the timing and direction right for the perfect dodge. When it charges with its mace dodge backwards to trigger flurry rush and you dodge to the side when it charges at you head first.
AdvertisementWhen it does the overhead slam, do a sideways perfect dodge, and when it swishes its horns at you it’s a back flip dodge. Get in your flurry rush hits and then bring up your shield and start to retreat a little to give you more space to see what’s coming up next.
When it starts to shoot fireballs at you, spring to avoid them and be ready with an arrow shot fused with a Keese Eyeball. This will make it a homing arrow that will guarantee a head-shot to bring the Silver Lynel down to its knees.
If you circle inwards towards the middle of the arena as you’re avoiding the fireballs you should have less ground to cover to sprint to it when it gets stunned. Get in a couple of good hits and then mount it with A to extend the impact of the move and get even closer to defeating it.
if you’re still having trouble with it then it could be down to your own armor not being very strong. You can check out the link below on details for the best armor sets in TotK, but taking it on with a fully upgraded Champion’s Tunic, Soldier’s Grieves and Diamond Circlet will help.
