It’s definitely fair to say that the Farosh location is the easiest to miss in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. However, as soon as you know where you’re looking you’ll be able to hit it up on a regular basis to cash in on the scales, claw, fang and horn.
There are a couple of reasons that it’s so hard to find, but the biggest is that it can be found in one of the TotK areas that you explore later in the game. Even if you do go there early on, Farosh can also be hiding or close to the coast, so you can still miss it entirely.
AdvertisementThere are also fewer sky islands, which means that there are less reasons to get up into the air and focus on looking around. You also have some big reasons to focus on the ground when you get here, and when you combine all of these things you have one illusive dragon.

Farosh location
The location for Farosh is around the south east of Gerudo, but there are a couple of things standing in your way when you first get there. Firstly, you’re going to need the Gerudo Canyon Sky Tower to get up to the dragon, so you’ll need to get it working before you progress.
To do this, you’ll need to head down a little to get the elevator working so that the technician can make it up to finish the job. The other things standing in your way and creating an element of obscurity for Farosh is the sand storm that is raging in Gerudo as its Regional Phenomena.
AdvertisementTo clear the Sand Shroud, you need to fly above it on a device to get to Gerudo Town and complete the Riju quest. This will see you taking on the temple in the sand, so you might need our guide to the Lightning Temple to help you out.

In all fairness, you don’t need to complete the Riju of Gerudo Town quest to be able to get to the Farosh location, but it is sort of a distraction. Once you have the Skyview Tower up and running you can get a launch up above the area where the dragon can be found.
It flies around two locations with the first being south of the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower, so you should be able to see it from where you start to glide when you fire out. If not then you can find it in one of a few locations with the first being diving into the Hills of Baumer Chasm to the north east of the Bridge of Hylia.
It then flies in the Depths from there over to the East Gerudo Chasm, where it comes out again to repeat the circuit. If you open up the depths between those two chasms by activating the Lightroots then you should be able to spot it no matter what location it’s in.
How to farm Farosh parts
AdvertisementIn The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, it was possible to reset the dragons, including Farosh, by simply sitting at a fire until the next day. However, sadly, that trick doesn’t work in TotK. Neither does saving and reloading your game or taking a nap in the shelter bed in Lookout Landing.
That leaves you with the challenge of how to farm Farosh parts if you can only get one piece at a time. The solution to this is that the lightning dragon will refresh on every cycle, which doesn’t actually take that much time (less than 15 minutes), so you can go through all of the dragons on loop to farm them.

This means starting with Farosh, grabbing some Spikes from its back and then doing the same thing with Naydra and Dinraal. If you add in a trip to the Light Dragon too then that should be enough time for everything to reset and you can go around again for another run.
However, if you want to ramp this up then there’s always the version 1.1.2 duplication glitch, which you can try to build up a good stockpile of everything. You need to progress far enough in the story to unlock it not too long after you finish the Water Temple, Wind Temple, Fire Temple and Lightning Temple.
AdvertisementAfter these, you investigate the Kakariko Village Ring Ruins once you’ve defeated Phantom Ganon. Not too long after that you’ll go to get more ruins to investigate before going up to an island chain where you unlock a new region of the Depths containing the Construct Factory.

This will give you access to the location you need to complete the 1.1.2 duplication glitch. With this you can take your Farosh farming to the max, but if this gets patched the standard run above isn’t too bad to get everything you need for combat and armor upgrades.
