To survive the swealtering heat of the Gerudo Desert in The Legend Tears of the Kingdom you need the protection of tge Desert Voe Armor set, but it’s a bit hidden away. However, it’s an outfit that you need to complete the Riju of Gerudo Town quest, so the guide below will show you where to go and what to do to secure the armor set.
You need heat resistance as soon as you get close to the Gerudo desert around the Skyview Tower on your way to the Regional Phenomena for the area. However, you’ll need either food or an elixir to keep you going for long enough to make it to the first part of the Desert Voe Armor set, so mix up some chillshroom to keep you going.
AdvertisementYou should activate the Gerudo Valley Skyview Tower on the way to the map marker for the Regional Phenomena as you can use this for a jump closer to the destination (just fix the elevator to get the technician up to sort it out). The trouble in the region is that there’s a huge sand storm blocking your way to Gerudo Town. We’ll cover the solution for this after the first part of the Desert Voe armor set, which is much easier to get.

Where to get the first part of the Desert Voe Armor set
The simple answer is that you get the first part of the Desert Voe Armor set from the shop at Kara Kara Bazaar, which you should be able to see on the edge of the sand storm. It’s a sizeable oasis with a pool in the centre and tents on the outside to the south east of Lookout Landing as you make you way to the map marker for Gerudo Town.

It’s being guarded by Gerudo warriors and there’s a team of Zonai researchers holed up there with the sand storm raging not too far away and its Gibdo monsters wandering around. You’ll find the shop to the east of the Bazaar and you will be able to see the desert Voe Headband on a mannequin out front.
AdvertisementIt’s not that expensive, but if you’re low on funds you can always try the duplication glitch to boost your funds. Check out our guide on how to get item duplication to work in TotK to see how to get lots of high value items sell.
Where to find the rest of the Desert Voe Armor set
To get the rest of the Desert Voe Armor set, you need to first make it to Gerudo Town through the sand storm. From Kara Kara Bazaar you will still be able to see map marker for the capital of the region with the Regional Phenomena activated as your main quest.
However, when you get out into the storm you won’t be able to see anything in the distance or on the map, so you need to aim in the right direction before you set out. The easiest way to get to Gerudo Town is to fly there either with a hover device like the one in the TotK guide video below, or using the updrafts with the glider out in the shroud.

Once you get to Gerudo Town, you’ll find it abandoned, but you can catch up with everyone hiding underneath the palace by moving the Sand Seal statue behind the throne. While you need to do this for the Riju of Gerudo Town quest, it’s sort of a distraction for the hidden shop where you’ll get the rest of the Desert Voe Armor set.
AdvertisementIt’s easy to see the map for the shop and assume that it relates to the underground version of Gerudo Town. This is not the case, though, and instead you need to interpret it for the topside version using the signs to figure out where it is.
To save you a bunch of time, you can find the hidden armor shop by taking the second left when you enter Gerudo Town using the main north entrance facing the palace. The sign next to the alleyway will say Fashion Passion Open at Kara Kara Bazaar, but if you go past this you find the hidden shop the vender at the Bazaar was talking about with the rest of the desert Voe set.
Down the alley, you’ll find a door on the left and when you investigate it you’ll hear a conversation between Greta and Perda. Greta asks Perda if she’d made sure that the entrance was securely blocked and Perda says that she’s put a crate in front of it to keep out the monsters.

You can get past this by circling to the other side of the shop to the alley that would be the first left after you enter town. You should find a hole to get underground, which you can see in the video below, and if you follow it and smash the series of rocks to your left you’ll make your way underneath the hidden shop.
AdvertisementKeep smashing the rocks and climb where needed to get into position and then you can use use Ascend to get into the shop selling the rest of the Desert Voe Armor set. The Gerudo assistants will happily sell you them, because they’ve got a rule not to pry into the business of their customers, so you should be all set to go.
Again, if you’re low on funds you can use the duplication glitch mentioned above on expensive items to sell in the shop to get enough funds to afford the set. Diamond is your best bet, but if you haven’t got any of these to start with then you can use whatever gems stones you do have.
You can find a diamond up in the tower above the throne in Hyrule Castle if you need to add it to your inventory for duplication. It’s close to where you find the Champion’s Tunic by lighting the braziers in front of the throne, so it’s worth the trip if you haven’t already.
In addition to the Desert Voe Armor set you can also get the Sand Boots to help out with your efforts to complete the Riju of Gerudo Town quest. The Snow Boots are next to them, so if you’ve got the funds then you might want to pick them up too for any incursions into the frostier sections of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.
