After a great curry at the Clifton on the corner of Brick Lane, we randomly found the Brick Lounge, just up the road. All low lit, and romantic, it looked great for hunkering down with a full stomach and a really pretty date (big green eyes, a cute smile and good knock knock jokes).
There were lots of comfy sofa seats, so it was easy to find a place to cwtch up with a mojito and a beer. The drinks were served quickly at the bar, but this turned out to be a bad thing in the end. The mojito tasted rubbish, so we had to take it back. I half expected some kind of protest, but the bar lady took a sip and changed it straight away with a big apology. The new mojito was a lot better, so I pinched quite a lot.
The music was OK too, played load enough to give the place some atmosphere, but not so load that we couldn’t chat drunken rubbish properly. Shouting “what?” at each other for a couple of hours is never good.
The Brick Lounge is a good bar for post curry drinks, especially on a date. The drinks weren’t too expensive, the bar staff were nice and the lighting, music and comfy seats are perfect.
