The Big Bang Theory Series 5

Big Bang Theaory Series 5The Big Bang Theory Series 5 brought the lovable nerds and even more loveable Penny back to UK screen on E4 in October 2011. The hit US sitcom has been consistently funny since day one, so a return to brilliance should be on the cards for the fifth series.

The brainy nerdlings have got a new doctor in the group with Walowitz’s Mrs, Bernadette, passing her PhD. However, the big storyline will inevitably be the ongoing will they/won’t they relationship of Leonard and Penny – although Raj’s sister Priya looks likely to get in the way of that. However, the impending matrimonials of Howard and Bernadette might give the main love story a run for its money.

Fans of the show got to find out what happened next after the climactic end of Series 4, which featured the first signs of friction between Leonard and Priya, as well as the drunken “incident” between Raj and Penny. The friendship group becomes a tangled web in Series 5, but that should make for a fair few good gags.

The Big Bang Series 5 doesn’t necessarily see the complete thermo-nucleic implosion of the group of friends, despite the aftermath of the crazy night at the end of series 4, but it’s definitely got a lot more friction than previous series. It had the makings of being the most dramatically frenetic season to date.

The fifth series is made up of 24 episodes with more of the same science based, comedy titles as before, including he Skank Reflex Analysis for episode 1, reflecting on Penny and Raj’s ugly bumping, and The Countdown Reflection, the final episode in the series, sending Wolawitz to boldly go down the aisle and up to the International Space Station all in the same episode.

There are a few cool guest cameos to look out for too, including Brent Spiner in episode 5, The Russian Rocket Reaction, Becky O’Donohue as iPhone’s Siri human incarnation in episode 14, the astronaut Michael J. Massimino in episode 15, Leonard Nimoy (if you’ve never seen his 60s chart topping hit, Bilbo Baggins, stop everything and get yourself on YouTube) in episode 20 and Stephen Hawking in episode 21. Plus there’s another appearance for WHEATON!!!

The Big Bang Theory DVD was subsequently released in the UK on the 3rd September 2012.
