The Angry Birds Movie 2 UK release

Making the transition from gaming to the big screen rarely results in a sequel, but The Angry Birds Movie 2 has managed to buck the trend and the DVD, Blu-ray and digital download release date (details below) is bound to be another big one for family entertainment. It’ll be available digitally on Xbox ONE and PS4, alongside the usual iTunes and Amazon Video with rental options on each of them. You’ll also be able to buy the film on YouTube with its recently introduced Movies option, but it’s a little more expensive than the others at the moment.

2 follows up on the success of the first film, which had its release back in 2016, but they both build on the massive popularity of the mobile game that set the whole franchise up. It’s been played by millions of gamers and somehow the film appears to be just as sticky, catapulting the warring birds and pigs onto the big screen in a big way.

While the opening movie focused on the infamous war between invading pigs and angry bird, the sequel sees the former enemies joining forces to face off against a new threat to their sort-of-tranquility. With a new threat looming, Red, Chuck and Bomb must put aside their former pork-based animosity, pathing the way for a whole lot of fun for The Angry Birds Movie 2 DVD, Blu-ray and digital release.

The high-flying story will be told with yet another big cast list as Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gadd and Danny McBride return as Red, Chuck and Bomb, alongside Peter Drinklage as Mighty Eagle and Bill Hader as Leonard. They’re joined by new additions Nicky Minaj as Pinky, Tiffany Haddish as Debbie and Stranger Things’ Gaten Materazzo as Bubba.

DVD, Blu-ray, iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4, Amazon and digital download release date UK

The Angry Birds Movie 2 DVD and Blu-ray release date is expected for late-November, early-December following on from its cinematic run in the UK over the summer. While the first movie didn’t go on to come out on 3D Blu-ray or 4K Ultra HD, it’ll be a surprise if the sequel doesn’t go on to get the full suite of physical releases.

You’ll be able to buy the digital download on iTunes and Amazon Video first as films usually come out in standard definition and HD a week or so earlier than the physical home entertainment release. Xbox ONE and PS4 will release it to buy on the same date as the DVD and Blu-ray giving you plenty of options see the film after its cinema showing.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 has a family friendly 96-minutes run time, which is fairly short as modern films go. As a result, the download size will be in the region of 4.5Gb of storage space at 1080p HD (1.74Gb in standard definition). It might not be the biggest file size, but it’s always good to check your space for your PC, Mac, PS4 or Xbox ONE ahead of the home entertainment release to make sure that the file size isn’t too big.

UK cinema release

The Angry Birds Movie 2 had a UK cinema release date of Friday the 2nd August 2019. It picked up decent reviews on its opening weekend, which only adds to the potential of its arrival on home entertainment formats later this year. It didn’t have anything significant to compete against at the box office with nothing new in the same family friendly catchment, and films like the Lion King live action having been out on the big screen for a while.

The Angry Birds Movie 2 age rating

The cinematic release of The Angry Birds Movie 2 was given an age rating of U by the British Board of Film Classification in the UK, which will also run for DVD, Blu-ray and digital download when they come out in winter 2019.

We’ll add in more details as they become available, including any DVD and Blu-ray special features that get bundled with the title when they get confirmed, but the information above should give you a good idea of what to expect from the home entertainment release.
