Denver-based Tennis have signed to ATP Recordings for the UK release of their second album, Young & Old. Trio Alaina Moore (vocals), Patrick Riley (guitar) and drummer James Barone released their debut album, Cape Dory, only last year, so the upcoming release of Young & Old is a pretty quick turn around for them.
Opening single, Deep in the Woods, is out now with a sinister sweet video to go with it (see below). It’s got echoes of late 50s and 60s girl group doo-wop vocals and a simple piano melody that makes it sound like something new, despite that fact that it’s a recreation of an established sound.
The single is a double A side with their first recording for Young & Old, Origins, which is a pop, doo-wop, surf mix-up with great guitar riffs.
Tennis will be launching their album in the UK with a show at the Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on the 13th of February 2012. Tickets are on sale now. Visit https://www.atpfestival.com/events/tennishoxton.php for more info.
