The Saga has finally come to an end and the Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker movie posters continue the long heritage of great design that began with the very first film over 42 years ago. There are a few main designs for the film and you can check them all out below. They’re all fairly dark, echoing the presence of Emperor Palpatine, which dominates the story for the last film in the sequel trilogy.
They also continue the overarching style of the original Star Wars trilogy posters, featuring the main heroes overshadowed by the evil Dark Side of the Force. In this case it’s a bit of a combination of both Kylo Ren and the Emperor as the JJ Abrams production was clearly trying to keep things fairly ambiguous ahead of the film release.
Official theatrical poster
The first of the Rise Of Skywalker movie posters is the official theatrical poster, which is the main one that you will have seen on billboards and outside cinemas. It focuses on the connection between Rey and Kylo Rennwith their lightsabers crossing streams and the image of their climactic battle towards the bottom of poster.
Plenty of the support characters feature too with the rest of the big three, Poe Damaran and Fin, just below Rey. Surprisingly, you then get new character Zorii Bliss, who is played by Keri Russel. She’s followed by the more familiar sight of Chewbacca, the returning Lando Calrissian and yet another new character, Jannah, played by Naomi Ackie.
It finishes off with Kellie Marie Tran as Rose Tico, before the droids are all covered with R2D2, C-3PO and BB-8 all back in the mix and new droid D-O. The biggest surprise, though, is that Leia doesn’t feature on the official theatrical poster. Considering how much of a big part of the story she is it seems like a pretty big omission that’s hard to overlook.
Epic Maxi Movie Poster
The second of the Star Wars The Rise Of Skywalker movie posters is this Epic Maxi, which features the same characters and omissions as the official theatrical poster. The big difference is that it doesn’t highlight the relationship between Kylo and Rey so much.
They’re both very prominent, but there aren’t any evident bonds on display. Instead, it’s a sort of Dark vs Light split down the middle with Rey and the rest of the Rebels at the top and Kylo and his Knights of Ren at the bottom.
Rise Of Skywalker Emperor poster
Finally, there’s the sinister presence of Emperor Palpatine in the poster above. It makes it all about the three characters that are destined to take the battle between the two sides of The Force to the final confrontation.
You can see Kylo and Rey having their epic lightsaber battle on Kef Bir under the sinister presence of the Emperor. The addition of the Force lightning, a trademark move of Palpatine’s, is a nice touch and because this poster keeps the focus fairly narrow it doesn’t suffer from the same lack of inclusion for key characters, or the prominence for characters that do feature. As a result, this is our favourite of the posters and one that looks likely to stand the test of time.
