It’s easy to imagine that mixing artists have it easy. Take some beats, jam them together with some sample loops and away you go, but the reality is that most of what is recorded like this is mediocre. However, in Star Slinger’s mixed up samples there’s something a bit more substantial and interesting.
Darren Williams is the Manc mix master behind Star Slinger and the likes of Mornin’, with its funked up Motown, hip hop reworking, has nudged him into the star light. The tracks are building together to make for a sonically charged, highly anticipated debut album.
His yet to be named debut single is being launched for the Star Slinger UK and European tour dates and festival gigs. The single will be launched at the UK shows with Memory Tapes in July, starting off in XOYO, London, and taking in the Deaf Institute in Manchester and The Arches in Glasgow.
