If you’ve seen Avengers Endgame then you’re probably keen to see what happens next for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the good news is that you don’t have too long to wait with Spider-Man Far From Home. It’ll be out on the big screen in June before going on to DVD, Blu-ray iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4, Amazon and digital download later in 2019 (see UK release date details below).
AdvertisementIt picks things up with Peter Parker straight after the momentous events of Endgame, but if you haven’t seen the most recent Avengers film then you might want to avoid the trailer as it includes details of what happens in Endgame. In general, the whole Thanos thing has obviously been dealt with one way or another, but in Far From Home Peter is still reeling from the events that take place and as he’s dealing with that he’s got a new threat on the horizon.
It also acts as a direct sequel to Spider-Man Homecoming, where Peter Parker took on the might of the Vulture who turned out to be Liz’s dad. It doesn’t get much more awkward than that in terms of romance, so Peter is back to being single again and this time around it looks like Mary Jane is going to be his love interest. With budding romance, a multiverse story featuring Mysterio and the Elementals and some epic Stark tech, the DVD, Blu-Ray and digital release is going to be up there with Avengers Endgame in terms of popularity.
If you don’t know too much about the Elementals, they’re essentially extra dimensional creatures with power over the natural forces wind, water, earth and fire. They look pretty cool in the trailer fighting Spider-Man and going toe-to-toe with Mysterio, who appears to be a good guy here, but we’ll wait and see how things work out when the film comes out on the big screen.
UK DVD, Blu-ray, iTunes, Xbox ONE, PS4, Amazon and digital download release date
While the exact dates haven’t been officially announced, we’re expecting the DVD and Blu-ray release date for Spider-Man Far From Home to be just in time for the winter holiday period. It’ll be a big one for Christmas presents in 2019, and if you’re planning to add it to your collection or pick it up for a loved one the you should plan for late early November.
Typically, home entertainment releases arrive a week or so earlier for digital download to buy on iTunes, so if you want to be first up then that’s your best bet. Xbox ONE, PS4 and Amazon release dates usually coincide with the DVD and Blu-ray, along with the rental option.
AdvertisementHomecoming was a little under 2:14 long giving it 5.54Gb of storage space at 1080p HD, if you need to check your hard drive before getting it on digital download. Far From Home will be a little shorter, coming in at 2:10, so that should mean you’ll need in the region of 5.4Gb at 1080p HD. If you’re running out of room on your PC, Mac, PS4 or Xbox ONE then you might need to either clear some old games out or go for an external hard drive to boost up your available storage.
UK cinema release
Spider-Man Far From Home has a UK release date in cinemas nationwide planned for Tuesday the 2nd July 2019, screening on Cineworld, Vue and the Odeon with significant slots planned for the summer blockbuster. It’s coming out on the same day in the US too, so British cinemas goers won’t need to worry about spoilers getting leaked a day or so ahead of the UK release.

Spider-Man Far From Home age rating
As with its the cinema run, the DVD, Blu-ray and digital release for Spider-Man Far From Home has been given an age rating of 12A by the British Board of Film Classification in the UK. The rating information specifies moderate fantasy violence, threat and language. It also refers to sex references, so things might be kicking up a notch for Peter on his European vacation.
