Alice Temperley’s debut range for John Lewis has recently had its full launch at the UK stores. It’s named after her much loved home-county, Somerset, and while it looks as quintessentially British as you’d expect with the name, there’s also a large amount of European high style thrown into the mix.
Having previously designed outfits for the likes of The Duchess of Cambridge and Keira Knightly, it was always a matter of time before the highly regarded designer put together a more mainstream collection in addition to the Temperley London fashion label, building on the success of her ALICE collections at Harvey Nics, Selfridges, Harrods and Net-A-Porter.
The coolest section in the collection is easily the dresses with some unique styles and masses of attention to detail thrown into the designs. The black chiffon insert dress has got a super stylish white collar section underpinning the simple black chiffon dress. The long lace dress is elegant incarnate, with a great black on pale pink colour tone and a good balance of lace flowers.
Though there are a few wild designs, the majority of the Alice Temperley Somerset range is pretty timeless and classic.
It’s the most expensive item in the collection, but the shearlings coat is going to be hard to beat this year in terms of winter coats. It’s got a big fur lined hood and perfect lines.
By the look of the John Lewis website, there should be more of Alice Temperley’s Somerset range still to come. Visit, www.johnlewis.com/somerset to see the entire collection.
