Pixie Lott, Breakfast At Tiffany's playHaving impressed on the dance floor in Strictly Come Dancing, Pixie Lott turned her hand to the boards of the theatre stage as she stars in the production of Breakfast At Tiffany’s throughout summer 2016. Showing at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, its her first role in a play as she continues to try her hand at new things following on from her rise to pop stardom on the back of the success of three studio albums to-date.

Tickets, dates and performances

Tickets for the reproduction of the Truman Capote novella are already on sale, with the show having opened on the 29th June 2016. It’ll be running through until the 17th September 2016, so there are still opportunities to see the opening show on London’s West End. Tickets range from £15 in the Gallery to £98 in the Premium Stalls and Royal Circle. Stall tickets can be picked up for £55-£65, Royal Circle is either £65, £55 or £35 and the Upper Circle is £45, £35, and £35. Performances times will be 7:30pm on Monday to Saturday with 3pm matinees on Wednesday and Saturday.

Story

For anyone that doesn’t know the story, it’s a snapshot of the life of young New York socialite Holly Golightly, who cuts a very sharp rug in the city that never sleeps during the 1940s as she lives off her various dalliances with wealthy men, one of which she hopes to marry. It’s told from the viewpoint of a writer who shares the same brownstone apartment building with Holly in Manhattan’s Upper East Side as he becomes transfixed by the good-time girl and her fascinating lifestyle.

The novella went on to be loosely adapted for the classic 1961 film of the same name, which has helped to make Breakfast At Tiffany’s such an iconic story with Audrey Hepburn in the lead role of Holly and the brilliant George Peppard playing her admiring neighbour. It makes for pretty big high heels for Pixie Lott, as well as the role of Fred/the narrator as it’s this relationship that has made the film so enduring over the years.

Cast

In addition to Pixie Lott, the cast also includes Matt Barber as Fred, Victor McGuire as Joe Bell, Robert Calvert as Doc, Tim Frances as Editor and Rusty, Andrew Joshi as Yunioshi, Naomi Cranston as Mag, Charlie De Melo as Jose, Melanie La Barrie as Madame Spanella and the Stern Lady Boss, Sevan Stephan as O. J. Berman and Dr. Goldman. Katy Allen and Andy Watkins have also been included as ensemble cast members, and Bob The Cat inevitably stars as Cat.

Production

The stage play includes a whole lot of music from the era, as well as Pixie’s take on one of the most recognisable party girls in literature. It has been adapted by American Tony and Olivier Award-winning playwright Richard Greenberg, who’s previous work includes Take Me Out and Three Days Of Rain, both of which were finalists for the Pulizer Prize For Drama. It first opened on Broadway in 2013 and the 2016 transfer to the Theatre Royal Haymarket will be the first opportunity to see the play in the UK. It is being directed by Nikolai Foster with design from Matthew Wright and music by Grant Olding.

As well as the production at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, there will also be a Breakfast At Tiffany’s UK tour, which will take the show on the road to seven locations, including Bristol, Cardiff and Sheffield. Pixie Lott won’t continue her role as Holy Golightly, but the rest of the cast will be hitting the road and the production will have Georgia May Foote in the leading role.
