Even though you’ve only got a living room and kitchen to cover in Pikmin 4’s Hero’s Hideaway, it’s still easy to miss the three playing card locations for the safe code. However, you need each and every one of them to be able to progress through the story, so our guide to the locations should help you out.
The reality is that the safe code in Hero’s Hideaway is different for each playthrough, so you can’t just use another code you’ve seen in a video (like the one below). Instead, you’ll need each of the three playing card locations to be able to crack the safe and come face to face with the leafling you’ve been chasing in Pikmin 4.
AdvertisementYou’ll get to Hero’s Hideaway one you’ve managed to track down the suspected location for Captain Olimar. It doesn’t take too long to stumble upon the first of the playing card locations, but the other two are harder to find and tougher to get to.
It’s also possible that you simply followed Oatchi’s nose to the the safe and saw that you need a code to be able to open it. It doesn’t take long to notice that the safe’s number entries relate to playing card suits, which will also send you on a hunt for all three on the location.

Pikmin 4 playing card locations #1
As mentioned above, the first of the playing card locations is the easiest, as it’s fairly close to where you touch down in the area in Pikmin 4. Head straight forward in Hero’s Hideaway and break through the pots to come to an open area with a cork board on the wall opposite.
AdvertisementYou will have been here already during the introduction section when you play as Captain Olimar, but things are a little different this time around. You should be able to see the first of the playing cards up on the cork board and to get it down you just need to do an Oatchi charge at the wall beneath the dart.
Get your Pikmin to take it back to the base and the number will come up on the screen in the top right hand corner, so you don’t need to worry about trying to see it as it’s being carried away, or memorizing the safe code. If you’re struggling with any of the playing card locations, you can see them all in the video below.
Pikmin 4 playing card locations #2
The second of the playing card locations is on the stairs in the top right hand corner of the living room in Hero’s Hideaway. However, getting to it will take a little more effort, because you’ll need to ride on over to the stairs from the kitchen counter to be able to collect the card.
Head over to the kitchen following the wall of the stairs to the left until you get to a chest of draws, which you can pick up in the video above from the 15-second mark. Next to the draws you’ll see a hovering drone, which you can ride up to the kitchen counter with your Pikmin and Oatchi in tow.
AdvertisementTurn right when you get to the top and ride on the rail down towards the stairs with the playing card on it. This will take you underneath the table with the safe and around to the cared, which you can collect with one of your Pikmin.
It’s a good idea to knock down the string to be able to get back up any time you need to. You might also want to change your base to the one located between the television and the stairs to make collecting the playing card a lot quicker and easier.
Pikmin 4 playing card locations #3
The last of the playing card locations is the toughest to find and the hardest to get to. It requires Pikmin 4’s switch tactic, which lets you control Oatchi and your main character separately, which you should have done at least once before.
You can pick things up for the last of the locations in the video above from about 42-seconds in. You start by riding the fan up to the central island in the kitchen. While you can fight the enemies at the top, you don’t need to in order to get to the playing card, which can be found on a shelf on the back wall of the kitchen.
AdvertisementTo get to it, you need to go to the far left corner of the island and turn the fan on. Switch to Oatchi and then switch back to your character to get him to jump up to the fan and fly on over to the table in the far left corner of the kitchen with your Pikmin.
Switch back to Oatchi and get him to jump on the other switch on the kitchen island to change to the far next to your character. Switch again and you can ride the fan jump over to the shelves, but you’ll find a dandori battle on the very top shelf.
You can either do this first or come back for it later on, but either way, next you need to drop down to the next shelf and it’s here that you’ll find the last of the playing card locations. Get it back to the base and you’ll have the code that you need to open the safe.
Conclusion
The three playing cards in Pikmin 4’s Hero’s hideaway are located in the cork board close to where you land, on the stairs in the living room and on the shelf in the kitchen. You can follow along with the details above to be able to pick up each of them, or you can watch the video guide.
Once you have all three, you can go over to the safe and enter the code, which you’ll have in the top right corner of your screen. Fire Pikmin at each of the knobs to be able to turn them to the right number and that will see you through to the inside.
