Building on the style of their third studio album, Lucifer, released earlier this year, Peaking Lights has put up a new video for one of the record’s stand-out tracks, Dream Beat. Bringing the mad cap world of New York City sunshine to life as the engine for the song’s tripped LA dreams works well as the summer starts to wind down.
The video is directed by Jordan Radaelli and Jason Miller as part of the Urban Outfitters video series. Half improvised, the Dream Beat follows the Brooklyn queen as she struts through the streets, subways, beaches and clubs in and around the big apple.
The song itself is an oddity that works in a trance-like sort of way with Caribbean beats and random noises shaped around echoing vocals from Indra Dunis. It slips you out of the daily grind and reminds you that there’s a lot more out there than commutes and computers.
The video for Peaking Lights’ Dream Beat is the tenth from the UO series, which has previously featured The War On Drugs and Cloud Nothing.
There’s no word of any live UK gigs for the rest of the year (they played Beacons Festival and Green Man in August), so the hope is on for 2013 for a return from Peaking Lights.
