Having picked up good reviews following its premier at the 77th Venice International Film Festival, Never Gonna Snow is about to get its UK release date (details below), so here’s everything you need to know about the film. You can find out more about the slightly surreal story, along with the runtime and cast, which is led by Alec Utgoff, who you might recognise as Alexie Smirnoff from Stranger Things Series 3.
The plot takes place in a gated suburban community in Poland and focuses on the exploits of Russian immigrant Zhenia, who works as a masseur for the people of the neighbourhood. On the face of things, that sounds a bit like a Polish version of Confessions of a Window Cleaner, and while there are vague traces of that side of things in the trailer, there’s more to the film than meets the eye.
AdvertisementZhenia was born in Chernoblyl, so there are references to him being radioactive and a scene where he moves a cup, seemingly with his mind, but this could just be a dream or delusion. He goes on to add hypnotism to his services, and somehow becomes a sort of cult saviour figure in the community, so its got the potential to go seriously sideways before the curtain draws.
Cast
In additon to Alec Utgoff, the Never Gonna Snow Again cast also includes Maja Ostaszewska as desperate housewife Maria, Katarzyna Figura as Gucci, and Andrzej Chyra as Captain, Zhenia’s three biggest clients. They’re joined by Agata Kulesza as widow Ewa, Weronika Rosati as Wika and Lucasz Simlat as Wika’s terminally ill husband.

Never Gonna Snow Again release date UK
Having had its premier at the Venice Film Festival back in September 2020, it’s taken a while for the Never Gonna Snow Again release date (UK) to come around. However, it has now been scheduled for Friday the 15th October 2021, so you don’t have long to wait. The release has been impacted by the global COVID-19 pandemic, but with the film industry starting to get back to something resembling normal, we’ll get to see the Małgorzata Szumowska and Michał Engler this side of Christmas.
It’ll have some big competition on the big screen, though, with both Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel and new superhero flick Venom: Let There Be Carnage arriving on the same date. Venom has a very different audience to Never Gonna Snow Again, so probably won’t get in its way too much. However, there’s definitely at least a little overlap from The Last Duel in terms of more serious film, so it could overshadow the Polish comedy drama somewhat.

Age rating and parents guide
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) has now confirmed the Never Gonna Snow Again UK age rating with the release date approaching. It’s certified 15, which is a step up on the trailer, which was fairly limited in terms of anything too extreme, but clearly the full film has more under the hood.
In terms of our parents guide, the notes include strong language to take into account, along with sex, nudity and drug misuse. This will have pushed up the certification for the film.
We’ll update you with more details as they get confirmed. You can also check out our movie news section to keep tabs on the latest upcoming films, or visit the Never Let It Snow Again website at https://nevergonnasnow.film/.
Streaming
There are no details as of yet in terms of when the film will be available for streaming, but it’s got Netflix written all over it with Alec Utgoff in the starring role. His appearance in Stranger Things Series 3 managed to steel the show, so it seems the most likely streaming option, especially in the UK where the number of services is lower than in the US.
Runtime
The Never Gonna Snow Again runtime is 1 hour 55 minutes, so it’s a chunk without being too long.
