Around the half-way stage through Mario Golf Super Rush’s Adventure mode on the Nintendo Switch, you find out that you need to select the lob wedge, which you’ve only recently picked up from the head coach. It comes just as you’re part way through the Great Trials at the statue, so it kind of takes you by surprise.
The first of the trials is just about hitting three markers over the water consecutively, but for Trial 2 you’ve got to lob over the top of a wall of water to hit the three markers. This is where the new wedge comes in, but if you’ve forgotten how to use it, don’t worry too much, because you can watch a refresher with this learn how to lob and duff walkthrough.

How to select the lob wedge
When you get told by the statue that you need to select the lob wedge to continue, bring up the Super Rush golf watch with the + button. The press R1 until you get to the equipment tab.
Press A and this sill bring up your golf caddy selections. Use R1 again to navigate over to the wedge section and then press down on the left stick until you see the lob wedge you got from the coach.
AdvertisementPress A on it to select it as one of your clubs. You can tell that the club is active when there’s a green tick next to it. If you want to you can deselect one of the other clubs by pressing A on it to keep your weight the same, but it isn’t really important at this stage.
Once you’ve selected the lob wedge you can exit the golf watch menu and step forward to start the trial. If you have any difficulties with it, you can see the walkthrough below to get a feel for what you’re meant to do:
An alternative method is to head back to any clubhouse and speak to the second Toad who will let you access your club selector menu. However, this seems unnecessary when you can just bring it up with the Golf Watch by pressing the + button.
How to get the lob wedge
There’s no mention of the lob wedge in Mario Golf Super Rush until you make it to Wildweather Woods. After you complete the Front 9 Speed Golf you’re sent for lob training and this is where it all begins.
To get the lob wedge, you’ll need to complete the training, including the way of the Duff, and then head back to the head coach. Once you’re finished with the chat you’ll be given the lob wedge for free. See more about Mario Golf Super Rush on the Nintendo Switch with the official Nintendo Twitter page.
