Angelina Jolie is back as the queen of the Fey with a DVD, Blu-ray and 4K release date in February 2020, and the details are out for the special features and bonus content that will be included. The film hit the big screen in mid October 2019 and while it was far from the biggest release of the year it was a dark fairy tale hit with fans of the first film.
Angelina Jolie is joined once again by Elle Fanning as Aurora and as you’d expect they both feature heavily in the bonus extras, which you can see below. Imelda Staunton (Downton Abbey film), Juno Temple (Black Mass) and Leslie Manville (BBC’s Mum) are also back as the three fairies and they also get good coverage in the special features with the Origins of the Fey and If You Had Wings featurettes.
AdvertisementThe biggest new addition to the cast is Michelle Pfeiffer as Queen Ingrith and there’s an extended scene featuring her alongside Aurora. It’s where she comforts the former sleeping beauty as her dastardly plan takes shape with war imminent between her kingdom of Ulstead and the might of Maleficent herself.
Special Features and Bonus Content:
- Origins of the Fey – get a look back at the history of the fairy folk
- Aurora’s Wedding – covered in full detail by Hello Magazine with candid shots of the couple at the end of the day as they head on up to the boudoir
- If You Had Wings – from Maleficent to Diaval’s transformation and the three fairies there are just as many wings this time around as there were back in the first film
- Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil VFX Reel – check out the special effects that transformed Angelina Jolie into Maleficent
- Extended Scenes – The Queen Comforts Aurora
- Extended Scenes – Philip And Aurora Dance
- Outtakes
- “You Can’t Stop The Girl” Performed by Bebe Rexha
Details for the digital release special features will be confirmed by iTunes and Amazon for the UK much closer to the release date, so we’ll put out an update as soon as it’s in.
If you’re planning on buying the DVD, the bad news is that the UK version is bereft of anything remotely resembling bonus content. Absolutely zero of the above is added to it, which is always a disappointment, so if you want to check out all of the extras then you’ll need to go for the Blu-ray, 3D or 4K version of the film or sit tight and wait for the digital details to be confirmed.
