How the Lurelin Village Monster Forces quest works
AdvertisementYou get a number of tip offs about the Lurelin Village Monster Forces as you’re exploring Hyrule in TotK. When you arrive, there’s a villager encampment just outside of tiki beach hideaway, who tell you that you need to defeat all of the monsters to allow them to return.
That means that every last one of them needs to be taken care of, but there are some complexities to the way things work at Lurelin Village. Firstly, you can take down the Monster Forces bit by bit, so don’t leave the area and try to return, because everything will just go back to the way it was.
You’ve got to do it all in one go, so make sure you’re prepared before setting out. We’ll take you through what you’ll need in the sections below, but even if you’re successful at beating them you might run into a snag at the end.
Firstly, the last of the Lurelin Village Monster Forces is pretty well hidden and secondly it’s easy to knock a few of the enemies overboard and lose them. We’ve take you through this too, or you can check out our dedicated guide for the last of the enemies with the link below.

Preparing for the Lurelin Village Monster Forces
AdvertisementFailure to prepare is to prepare for failure, so here are our best tips to help you get ready to defeat the Lurelin Village Monster Forces:
- If you take a lot of hits in combat then you need to get good armor and upgrade it for protection. The Champion’s Tunic combined with the Soldier’s Armor and Diamond. You can read our guide to the best armor for more details on where to find all of these and how to upgrade them to give you epic defense against the Lurelin Village Monster Forces.
- However, if you’re good at dodging, but you’re not doing enough damage then you might want to boost your attack power. The Fierce Deity set is the best for this, because it give you level 3 attack up and when upgraded to the max a bonus buff of attack stamina, so you can spin damage on loop for longer. Again you can use the best armor guide link above to find out where to get it and you can read our page on how to farm dragons to get the parts you need to upgrade it to max level for the extra buff.
- You can then choose how you want to mix this up with meals to give you even more power or defense, or a mix of the two. Ironshroom meals and their like will give you defense up and Mighty Banana meals will do the same for attack up. Our Might Banana farming location is a good one if you want to boost your offense.

- Next up, you need a few strong weapons. Lynel parts give you the best attack, but you can just sort your current materials by Fuse power to see what to combine for the best out of what you’ve got. However, if you do want to go bit then you might want to read our guide to getting Majora’s Mask, which will see you battling five Lynels in a row in an arena, so you’ll get lots of high attack parts from that.
- Materials that will be good in the fight against the Lurelin Village Monster Forces include Puffshrooms and Muddlebuds and you can farm these in the Depths. You can also use the duplication glitch to boost your numbers.
- The link above on how to farm dragons will also give you an abundance of their parts to use against the monster forces. For example, Light Dragon parts fused to your weapon will heal you by a quarter heart for each attack. The others will all give you elemental attacks, so Fuse away and use these in the fight.
- Finally, it’s definitely helpful having all of the Sages with you to take on Lurelin Village. If you don’t have these yet, you might want to check out our guide on how to get all abilities in TotK.

How to defeat the Lurelin Village Monster Forces
AdvertisementTo defeat the Lurelin Village Monster Forces in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom you need to take them on in batches. This will see the overall health bar for all of the enemies go down steadily. It’s a good idea to start from the east and make your way through the forces in an anti-clockwise pattern.
The preparations you did with the tips above should mean that you take less damage thanks to your improved armor and you do more damage thanks to the weapons, armor and meal combination. You can also use Sidon’s water wall for protection, but for the most part the Sages are all about distraction and combat, so you don’t end up taking on the entire batch of monster forces by yourself.
Other good combat tips include using Puffshroom arrows to create a smoke cloud, so that you can sneakstrike the Lurelin Village Monster Forces. You can also try using Muddlebud arrows to see the enemies fighting among themselves. When combined with the attack from the Sage avatars you can sit back and watch them duke it out from up high.

Getting height before taking on a new batch will means that you can use your glider to get above them and then go into bullet time with the bow. This means that you can rain down perfect headshot arrows as you fall to thin out their numbers. Hit them with a Puffshroom or Muddlebud for the last one to string your attack options.
AdvertisementYou can also get high enough to get bullet time with a Bomb Flower shield Fuse. With this you can do a shield surf jump and this will blast you up in the air, while also damaging the enemies.
However, this is a one time only deal, so if you want to do it again you’ll need to repeat the Fuse process for each of the batches. An alternative is to fuse a Wing to your shield, which means you’ll get high enough to go into bullet time from a shield surf jump. If you’re not too sure how to shield surf, the link will show you what to do.
If you still find yourself getting damaged quite a lot then you can either turn to the meals you put together to prepare for the Lurelin Village Monster Forces, or you can use a Light Dragon part fused weapon to build up your hearts as you go. Attaching a scale to a long spear is a good option as you can attack from afar and get back your hearts without putting yourself in too much risk.
As you make your way around clockwise, you’ll see that you have enemies on the pirate ship on the cover. You’ll need to climb and then use the glider to get up to them, but try not to alert them too early.
Use the explosives on board to make short work of them and then you can pick them off with arrow shots. Alternatively, you can just Muddlebug the lot of them and watch them scrap it out.

That will just leave the last of the Lurelin Village Monster Forces to find, if you haven’t got any lurking over the side of the pirate ship. To find it, head back to the shore and look for the well in the middle of the village. Down there you’ll find the last of the enemies to complete the quest.
