Until recently, it was actually crazy difficult to destroy items in Lego Fortnite, but with the late January 2024 patch, we can now talk you through how to do it. The good news is that it’s actually ridiculously easy to do it, but we’ve also added in a few extra details that you might want to take into account.
The Lego Fortnite patch came with a host of other updates that include the Launch Pad and the genius notion of getting materials back when you destroy new toys. Now you can smash up thrusters, balloons, switches and wheels and get materials back in return, which makes being able to travel faster so much easier.

How to destroy items
If you’ve got a load of skeleton pickaxes or wood that you just want to destroy, you can do it really easily now with the latest Lego Fortnite patch. The patch notes on the website will tell you that you simply throw them into a camp fire and they’ll be gone forever.
The problem is that there is no throw function, so you might be a little confused in terms of what you actually need to do. The solution is that you need to walk as close to the camp fire as possible without getting too close to burn yourself.

Once you’re in touching distance, you can then bring up your inventory and navigate to the item that you want to destroy. Choose to drop the items and as long as you’re facing the fire at the time, you’ll place it on the ground close enough to catch light and it’ll burn itself out to destroy it.
You might think that this only works with individual items like pickaxes, but it can also be done with batches of items like wood and marble. If you’ve had to build, destroy and rebuild anything, whether in Sandbox or Survival Mode, you’re bound to have a load of this cluttering up the place.
AdvertisementWith the new patch you can repeat the process above with any of these items and they will burn up in the camp fire, just like the other items. This means that it’s way easier to clear up after your efforts without needing to store all of the items in a variety of chests, which was incredibly annoying.
The down side, though, is that this won’t give you any resources back, so it’s worth bearing in mind with any items that you want to keep. Essentially, don’t accidentally throw them into the fire and you’ll be fine.
How to destroy thrusters, balloons, switches and wheels
As you probably already know, this is an incredible easy process in Lego Fortnite. However, for anyone new to the title, it’s just a case of walking up to them and hitting them to destroy them.
If you’re bare handed then this will take a few hits, but if you’ve got a pick-axe then you can destroy them much quicker. With this, your thrusters, balloons, switches and wheels should be gone in a single hit.
With the January 2024 Lego Fortnte patch (V28.10) you now get materials backs, meaning they’re not a complete loss any time you need to get rid of them. Suddenly, traveling fast doesn’t come with the same resource penalty, so you can really start motoring around the map without worrying about having to stock up quite so much.
What else was released in the Lego Fortnite V28.10 patch?
In addition to being able to destroy items and getting resources back when you delete toys, the Lego Fortnite V28.10 patch also introduced a host of new skins. These were Ahsoka, Finn from Star Wars, Jack Skellington, Loki, Scarlet Witch, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Thanos and Wolverine, so if you’ve got any of these, you’ll be able to select them to use in the game.
AdvertisementIn addition to this, your builds will now destroy bushes, rocks and plants that are in your way, which should save a fair bit of time. There are also new building styles to choose from, and an option to get rid of a whole village using the Village Square by choosing Delete Village, but again, don’t do this by accident.
You can also drop villagers easier by destroying their beds and then talk to them to ask them to leave. It might get emotional, but it’s probably for the best.
If that isn’t enough, you can now eat while moving, choose what to pick up and ping your location. Attacks are more consistent too, so you’ll have less missed swings and dangerous counters to avoid.
There were also a boat-load of fixes in the patch, which should make the whole experience of playing Lego Fortnite a lot better. You can check out all of the patch notes for V28.10 at www.fortnite.com/news/lego-fortnite-v28-10-go-up-up-and-away-with-launch-pads to see everything that’s included.
