It’s been nearly four years now since Kick Ass first came out in print, so writer Mark Millar and illustrator John Romita, Jr. have had a fair while to make the sequel into the epic story that everyone hopes it’ll be. Later this year, we’ll get a chance to see how it’s turned out.
Kick Ass hit the big screen and decimated the rules around what a cute little girl can get away with saying on film. Hit Girl (Chloë Moretz) became 2010’s unlikely star, turning the Kick Ass graphic novel into the latest addition to great comic book titles.
The Kick Ass 2 comic book is set to be released on the 15th June 2012 in hardback, and with Hit Girl still reeling from the loss of her farther at the hands of Red Mist’s plan in the first outing, it’s bound to be ferocious.
While she trains Kick Ass to be a more effective crime fighter, Red Mist sets out to pull together a criminal crack unit of super-villains to take them both down after they killed his farther at the end of the first in the first story.
The release date for the book is a pretty good indication that a sequel to the film won’t be too far away too. In fact, if the rumours are true, they’ll be starting filming Kick Ass 2 later this summer. OK, you James Blunts, let’s see what you can do now!
