Cult director and actor Kevin Smith (Mall Rats, Red State) is about to reprieve Steve Austen (not the one that smashed up The Rock in choreographed pseudo-fighting dramatisations during the noughties) with the release of The Bionic Man comic book paperback.
With writing assistance from Phil Hestor, artwork from Jonathan Lau and cover art and character design by Alex Ross, Smith brings back the might of The Bionic Man in a whole new way. New superpowers and abilities combine with a range of new enemies to bring the old-school hero to the modern day.
Set for a release date of the 7th August 2012, it’s the first collection of Smith’s ten issue series featuring the character that Lee Majors turned into a pop culture legend in the 70s. The paperback release also features a full gallery of cover artwork for the ten issues.
Published through Dynamite Publishing, Kevin Smith’s The Bionic Man Vol. 1: Some Assembly Required is a cool new addition to the comic book archive. With Kevin Smith at the helm surely it’s just a matter of time before a film featuring the Six Million Dollar Man gets a release date.
