It doesn’t take long playing Jurassic World Evolution 2 to work out that you need more scientists if you’re going to get enough done quickly to land the 5-star rating for your park. However, it isn’t that obvious how you get them in the first place and which ones to add to your team, so here is a rundown of what you need to do to speed things up a little.
You essentially use scientists for the majority of actions in JWE2, so you’ll need to add more to your team if you want to succeed. They do the expeditions at dig sites to bring back fossils, as well as processing them to build up enough of a genome for each of the species of dinosaurs in the game. They also work in the various hatcheries to grow you the dinos and release the into the enclosure, but their importance goes even further than this.
AdvertisementAny research you want to do at the Science Centre will need their skills too, so whether it’s unlocking the avian viewing gallery or getting the monorail up and running, you’ll need more, more, more! This is especially true because of their fatale and morale rating, which means you’ll need to rest a few of them every now and again, cutting down your options on a regular basis.
How to hire more scientists
The easiest solution is to hire more scientists to build out your workforce. You can see how to do this with the video below, but in general you’ll need to bring up your park menu by clicking on the first option in the side bar in the top left hand corner of the editor page. You should also see the quick button option to open the park menu along with the icon for the button. For the PlayStation version of Jurassic World Evolution 2 it’s square.
AdvertisementOne the screen that comes up with your park rating on the left, tab over the the icon that looks like a head shot of a stick man and here you’ll be able to see how many free spots you have. If you have any slots free you can then hire more scientists to build out your team.
Make sure you pay attention to their stats when you’re hiring as you’ll need the right mix of these to function properly. You want some generalists with decent stats across the board and then at least one scientist with much higher skills training in each of them to be your heavy hitter for that variable.
How to increase scientist capacity
AdvertisementThe good news is that in Jurassic World Evolution 2 gives you the option to increase the capacity of your staff centre to get even more of them. When you unlock this, it’ll give you two more scientists, but the process to do this is a little convoluted, but we’ll try to talk you through it in enough detail to get the job done.
Go to your science centre and choose research and then on the next screen select the Infrastructure button on the right in the Structures section. The research you need to get underway is called Staff Improvements 3 and it’s further along on the right.
You might need to unlock the earlier Staff Improvements research nodes if you haven’t already, before you can do the 3rd one to get the scientist capacity boost. Select your scientists to start the research and then once it’s done go back to your park and click on the Staff Centre, tab over to upgrades and then choose scientist capacity to apply it.

How to train scientists
If you’ve maxed out getting more scientists, but still need extra impact then the next best thing is to increase your training for the scientists that you do have. The good news is that you’ll get these by applying the same Staff Improvements research nodes mentioned above, so if you follow the steps there, you’ll then unlock the various training points boosts.
The first gives you 1 extra point per scientist and it increases up to 3 extra points for Staff Improvements 3. To apply the training, head back into your park menu and tab over to the scientists page. You should see them on the right hand side of the screen and you can choose between Logistics, Genetics and Welfare to apply the research points.
If you’re not too sure how to do this, you can check out the mini Jurassic Park Evolution 2 tutorial below to see the scientist training in action. It’ll also show all of the pages that we’ve mentioned in each of the sections above to give you more of a reference.
