It’s another force of nature assault for Bab Yaga, so here’s the underground rumblings on the John Wick Chapter 4 rent online release date latest. If you manage to miss it on the big screen or you’re just looking for your next opportunity to watch the film, home rental might be one you’re looking out for.
This is usually in the form of Home Premier early access first, but the format has seen a lot of changes over the last year. We’ll also talk you through the regular rental that should release later in the year. We’ve had a lot of complexity for home media recently and 2023 doesn’t look like it’s going to be any different, so we’ll try to shine some light on it all for you.
AdvertisementJohn Wick Chapter 3 – Parabelum left us with a huge twist that saw Winston shooting John, who fell off the roof before being taking to the Bowery King to be fixed up. This is where we pick things up in Chapter 4 as he sets out to take on the full might of the High Table.
Chad Stahelski is back in the director’s chair having been at the helm for all of the previous films in the John Wick franchise. He’s been pretty focused on the series as a director with only producer roles in Bruised and Day Shift being his other major credits.
The details below start off with the latest on the John Wick Chapter 4 rent online release date for early access and then standard rental. It’s then followed up by notes on the streaming options that might follow in the years to come at the bottom of the page.

Home premier rental
AdvertisementAs mentioned above, the next opportunity to see the film after cinema will be home premier, but sadly, rental isn’t a part of the release. John Wick Chapter 4 is already available in North America and the UK to buy on early access, but there is no option to rent it as of yet.
This continues what we’ve seen from other big films like Avatar 2, which moved very far away from the standard playbook. In all fairness, this could have been an anomaly that only applies to contenders for the highest grossing movie of all time, but with no rental yet for JW4 it appears to go further.
Avatar 2 skipped early access entirely and the film is still not available to rent online, and we’re a whopping six months out from initial release, so it’s bound to send shock-waves throughout the industry. Other films like Black Panther 2 and Top Gun Maverick, also had long breaks between theater and home media, John Wick 4’s decision to include not rent option for early access continues this shift or experimentation process.
However it pans out for the release date, Amazon Prime, iTunes and the Play Store are your main providers for rental. It’ll be interesting to see how much earlier this is than the DVD, Blu-ray and digital purchase release as home media mixes things up for early access.
John Wick Chapter 4 rent online release date
AdvertisementIt’s hard not to appreciate the cinematic side of the series, making it one to catch on the big screen. However, if you want to practice your living room fight skills alongside Keanu Reeves then you might be waiting on the standard rent online release date, which should be around July in North America and possibly August in the UK.
Following its run on the big screen, which begins on March 24th, 2023, we should get a Blu-ray, digital, and DVD release date in the UK around July. For North America, this will be earlier still, so maybe as soon as June, but we’ll keep you posted.
The standard rent online release should be fairly soon after both of these, which is how we get to the timelines for both regions above. There’s obviously a fair amount of slack in the system for Lionsgate to pick the best option for John Wick Chapter 4 on Amazon Prime Video, Google Play and iTunes, so check back for more details closer to the dates.
The gap between cinema and early access will probably have a knock-on effect for all home media. It was around the 60 days mark, which is towards the top end of the normal range, so we might see some delay for DVD, Blu-ray and digital purchase, which will in turn have an impact on standard rental.
AdvertisementNo early access for Avatar 2 and the longer wait for films like Black Panther Wakanda Forever or Spider-Man No Way Home means that distributors have much more freedom to tweak things. If it decides to give cinema ticket sales as much time as possible into the summer then it might be more like late-August for standard rental in the UK.
There are plenty of other films out in the weeks and months following John Wick Chapter 4, so this inevitably gave it a sharp dip from April onward. The Dungeons and Dragons movie came out a week later and then there was the Super Mario Movie in April and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in May, which could push things earlier.
The counter argument to this is that JW4 has picked up some very good reviews, so this made it more popular on the big screen. This could mean that the decline isn’t quite as total as it would have been with more mixed reviews.
We’ll update you with more details on the release as they get confirmed. You can also check out our movie news section to keep tabs on the latest upcoming films, or visit the movie website at johnwick.movie.
Where can I watch the film online?
AdvertisementIt’s fair to say that John Wick 4 will eventually be available to stream online, in addition to the rental, but the question is where and when. The good news is that we’ve got three previous films in the series to look at, which should be a good indicator for the quadruple.
As things stand, only John Wick 3 is available to stream online as part of a subscription and it’s Amazon Prime Video that has it. However, the previous movies have been available before, so they might return at a later date with both Netflix and Prime swapping stints.
Either way, it’s going to be a long while before this comes out on one of the streaming services with Amazon looking the most likely with Parabellum on its books at the moment. That means that it should be 2024 and beyond, which will give the DVD, Blu-ray and digital download, plus the rent online release plenty of time to add to the big screen success.
Is it possible to watch John Wick 4 on Hulu?
The short answer is probably not. Hulu is owned by the Walt Disney Company and NBCUniversal, so there’s no pre-established relationship that would hint at a release on the streaming platform in North America.
It’s not impossible, and there will probably be an auction of some kind next year to see which platform gets to add it to its catalogue, but with no president it’s not something to bank on. If you want to watch John Wick Chapter 4 online then the digital purchase or rental release on iTunes, Amazon Prime Video and the Google Play store is the best bet with the date ranges mentioned above.
