Following on from her impressive Autumn Winter collection and success at UNIQLO Jil Sander is back with her +J Spring Summer collection, which was launched on the 7th January 2010 at the Oxford St store. With yet more stunning lines, minimalist chic designs and dedication to quality the second wave from the German designer had just as much impact on the London fashion community as the first.
With what they describe as pure tailoring and avant-garde textiles, +J spring summer 2010 wasn’t too far away from topping the last offering. It went on to be one of the coolest designer collaborations for the Japanese powerhouse and gave us an enduring partnership with a whole lot of incredible designs.
One of the most striking elements of the autumn winter collection was the incredible imagery that was used to showcase the range, and while the spring summer imagery is not quite as eye catching it still contains the same iconic Jil Sander mix of simplicity and style (although we’ve tweaked the shot above slightly to make it look cooler). When you add to this the vastness of scale and scope of the items that were available as a part of the collaboration, it’s easy to look back on it as one of the big events in fashion in 2010.
Another talking point of the collection is the perfect lines that are intrinsic to Jil Sander clothing. It’s the kind of fashion that even the most difficult of body shapes would struggle not to look good in. Jordan and Kerry Katona would cease to look cheap, Dappy from N-Dubz would stop looking like a twit and Bolo would be the sultan of style if +J ever crept into their wardrobe.
Add to that the fact that there were a whole lot of items included in the collection with a even more range in terms of variety and style. The +J SS 2010 designs are steeped in sleek silhouettes, flattering contours and the genius of simplicity and we’ll be surprised if it doesn’t go down as one of the most iconic brand collaborations in the early 21st century.
