How to get to Tobios Hollow early in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

How to get to Tobios Hollow early in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

If you want to use the duplication glitch in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, but you’re not even close to making it to the Construct Factory part of the story, our guide on how to get to Tobios Hollow early is here to help. Getting to the location is relatively easy, but the challenge of making it up to the hollow is a bit more specific.

The cavern-like chasm is the only place where the duplication glitch works without having to build a platform part way down. It’s because it’s a slope down to the Depths instead of a sky dive plunge, so you can walk to the exact point of transition between the surface level and the underground biome.

Here, TotK gets a bit broken and allows you to fire a multi-shot bow up at the transition line to duplicate items that you fuse to the arrows. You can read our guide on how to get duplication to work, if you’re having any issues, but the details below will get you up to Tobios Hollow way before you complete all of the temples.

How to get to the base of Tobios Hollow Chasm

As mentioned above, getting to the area directly below Tobios Hollow Chasm is relatively easily done. Drop down the Hills of Baumer Chasm to the west of Kakariko Village and land at the Busus Lightroot, which you can spot to the north west as you glide down.

Start heading south, because there’s a huge rock formation in the way, but what you’re trying to do is to circle around it to the east eventually. It’s hiding the Construct Factory, which is due east of the Hills of Baumer Chasm and there’s the Muokuij Lightroot just south of the factory to guide you and light up the location when you get to it (see map image below).

Don’t worry about the Construct Factory at this stage. It’s linked to story-based progression that you don’t get to until you’ve completed all of the Regional Phenomena quests and a couple straight after that. You can check out the link below to find out more.

In between the factory and the lightroot is a platform with devices and building items set in the walls. If you look directly up from here you should be able to see the hole in the roof where there Tobios Hollow Chasm leads out in the Depths, which leads on to the next section on how to get up to it.

How to get up to Tobios Hollow

This is where you need to use all of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom’s creative options. Tobios Hollow is really high up and there are no Skyview Towers down in the Depths to be able to use to get a boost up to it.

You could use a flying device construction like a Fan hover bike to get up to it, but you might not have enough battery charge. Our guide on how to get more battery in TotK is sort of based on using the duplication glitch, so you can’t really use that to get to Tobios Hollow unless you maxed out your Zonaite before the old duplication glitch got patched.

There are a couple of options you have to make it up there without having crazy amounts of battery in your Charge Cell, but either way there’s an element of preparation to do to pull it off. The first option is to simply climb up there, but it’s a long way, so you need to be ready for the long haul.

Having as much stamina as possible is a good starting place, so you need to have completed a fair few Shrines to increase your base Stamina. However, you can use Endura Shroom to make a meal that will temporarily increase your stamina limit, or cook a series of Stamella Shroom/Stambulb meals to eat along the way.

Cook a series of meals with five of them for the stamina boosting effects and then get climbing. You can do it in stages with the lightroot. Climb up as high as possible to the point on the lightroot that you can still stand up at, from here’s it’s all down to stamina management.

If you’ve got a lot of stamina wheels then you won’t need as many meals, but if you don’t then you’ll need a lot of meals to make it up there. However, if you combine it with the other option below you can do it with just one or two meals.

Okay, so the second option is to use a balloon to get as much height as possible before you start to climb. You can either build one from your devices or make one using Autobuild. If you don’t have the latter then you might want to read our guide on how get all abilities.

Another thing that you can do to increase your chances of making it up to Tobios Hollow is to have a speed up meal before you start. 4 Fleet Lotus Seeds from around Mipha’s Court in Zora mixed with a Raw Prime Meat or a Shard of Light Dragon’s Fang will give you level 3 speed up, which will make things go a lot faster.

Finally, you can add in the Climber’s Armor to make it even quicker. Read our guide to the best Armor in TotK to find out where to pick it all up, but with all of that you should be able to get to Tobios Hollow early. However, that’s a lot of effort that you don’t want to waste, so if you want to get a fast travel point to return to the hollow any time you need it you can read more in the section below.

How to quickly return to Tobio’s Hollow

With Tobios Hollow taking quite a lot of effort to get to, you want to make things easier on yourself by being able to return to it quickly the second time. To do this you need to take advantage of The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom’s fast travel medallions.

You unlock these when you progress the quests for Robbie, which starts with fixing him a balloon to fly to the Hetano Tech Lab. You’ll then need to get his research from his place up at his old Akkala Ancient Tech Lab, and then complete the fast travel upgrade quest for his Purah Pad solutions.

Once you do that, you can place a fast travel medallion up in Tobios Hollow, so you can just drop in any time you want to. You can upgrade this to a maximum of 3 medallions, so you can also do this for other locations that you want to be able to return to quickly in TotK.

However, if you want to open the main entrance to the duplication glitch location, you can check out the details below. This will see you opening the doorway that leads down in to the chasm as you follow the story progression in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom.

How to get to Tobios Hollow the normal way

So, to get to Tobios Hollow without the workaround above you need to complete all of the four Regional Phenomena by defeating the Water Temple, Wind Temple, Fire Temple and Lightning Temple. Once you’ve done that you need to complete a series of quests, starting with a return to Hyrule Castle, getting into the Kakariko Village Ruins and solving the mystery of a new set of ruins in Drakoza Lake.

Having the Sensor+ from Robbie will help with the latter and if you get stuck anywhere you can check out our full TotK guide with the link below. Once you do all of that you’ll get up to Dragonhead Island and at the end of it you’ll get the unlock for Tobios Hollow Chasm on your way down to the Construct Factory in the Depths.
