If you want to blast your way through The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom then our guide on how to get OP fast is here to show you the way. Being overpowered as you take your first steps through Hyrule in TotK means that you’ll be able to destroy the temple bosses and bring down the big monsters with ease.
It also means that you’ll be able to storm your way through Hyrule much later in the game. This should give you a lot of killer options to take down everything around you with a range of big impact attacks.
AdvertisementThere are a few different routes that you can go down, but we’ll try to cover the best plays for weapons, armor sets and extras that will mean that you can jump down any chasm without a shred of concern. We’ll start by covering how to get OP in your first few steps in TotK, but then we’ll get into the real over-powered big hitters that will see you smashing all of the bosses with ease.

The reality is that there’s no one solution for every situation, so what’s OP against a Lynel won’t have the same effect with temple bosses and vice-versa. As a result, we’ve also added in notes for when each works well, so that you know which to choose from in any given situation.

How to get OP when you first start TotK?
AdvertisementAll of the really meaty options to get OP in TotK don’t really apply when you first start out in The Great Sky Island. However, there are some general over-powered tricks that you can do to give yourself a better chance against the construct enemies that you’ll encounter there.
In all fairness, the tips will also come in handy no matter what stage you are in the game The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. They’re really good frameworks to follow, and will support and form parts of the deeper OP tricks in the section below.
1. The sheer power of the Sneakstrike
AdvertisementThe most over-powered move that you can do in all of TotK is the sneakstrike. It takes your base attack power and multiplies it by a silly amount, so you can one shot most of the enemies in The Great Sky Island. When you factor in some of the other tips further down, it’s a move that can be used to one-shot Hinox and chunky standard enemies like Silver Bokoblins, Moblins and Lyzalfos.
RELATED: Left Arm Depot Tears of the Kingdom
To do it, you just need to crouch by pressing down on the left stick to avoid detection and approach an enemy from behind. When you get close enough, you’ll see a prompt to press Y to deliver the sneakstrike and depending on the power of your weapon you should one-shot most of the enemies in The Great Sky Island.
2. Fuse Power
If your sneakstrike isn’t OP enough, it’s probably because you’re not taking advantage of Fuse Power. You can sort your items by this with Y in the main menu or the menu that comes up when you press Up on the C directional buttons.
When you unlock Fuse you will be able to combine items with your weapons to make them stronger. When you’re first up in The Great Sky Island, your best options will be +4 from the Like Like Stone, but the most abundant will be the Soldier Construct Horn at +3.
However, as you progress through Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll take on more powerful enemies and get even stronger Fuse items. The best in the game is the Silver Lynel Saber at +55 and when Fused with the Fierce Deity Sword, which we’ll cover below, it goes up to 93. Use this with a sneakstrike and you’re talking about over 700 damage in one hit.
3. Getting ele-mental!!!
Another option to get OP fast in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is to take advantage of elemental items fused to your weapons. At The Great Sky Island, the best elemental option you have is a ruby, which you can get from a Rare Ore Deposit in the Pit Cave, east of the Forge Construct.
RELATED: Right Arm Depot Tears of the KingdomAdvertisement
It’s the cave where you get Spicy Pepper next to the construct with the cooking stove. Head further into the cave and down in the area with the Bubbul you’ll find a Ore Deposit to get the ruby. Fuse this to your weapon and you’ll have a Super Mario-like power to shoot bouncing fire balls.
The good news is that you can keep returning to this location to get more rubies later on. It takes a little while to re-spawn, but it’s a great spot to grab a ruby again when your last one runs out. When you get far enough into the game to be able to take advantage of the duplication glitch, it won’t be that important, but having good spots to pick up items like this will definitely help.
Later on in TotK, you’ll get a whole range more items including elemental dragon parts, topaz for electric strikes and various monster parts to play around with. All of these will give you over-powered abilities to help you make short work of the bosses and other enemies you’ll face.
How to get OP fast when you get down to Hyrule
With the early game OP options covered, it’s time to get to the meaty tactics to get overpowered fast in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. There are different options to choose from, so we’ve added in some notes on what situations they work well in where it’s relevant.
Advertisement4. Start dragon farming and get the Master Sword
There are lots of things that you can do to get overpowered, but a good one to focus on to start with is dragon farming. There are four of them up in the sky – Dinraal, Naydra and Farosh who return from BotW, plus the Light Dragon – and their parts are very effective.
RELATED: Lurelin Village Monster Forces
You can read our guide on how to farm dragons to get all of the details, but they’re easy to get to and don’t try to fight you when you get near them. You’ll need cold weather protection for Naydra, fire protection for Dinraal, and Farosh is the electric dragon, so remove any metal and you should be fine.
The reason that they’re so OP is because the horns have a Fuse power of +26 and they deal elemental, so Naydra’s horn will freeze monsters, Farosh’s will shock them and Dinraal’s will burn them. Naydra is the easiest one to get to and you can see it flying above Kakariko Village and the Sahasra Skyview Tower to the south east of Lookout Landing. Put on the Archaic Warm Greaves and hold your ruby weapon from The Great Sky Island and you’ll have all the cold protection you need.
If that isn’t enough, if you can catch a ride on the Light Dragon and farm its parts then you can Fuse them to weapons to get a heart health replenish with every hit you land. The horn has an attack power of 20, but you can get this higher by fusing it to a strong weapon to give you decent damage and health replenish.
RELATED: How to get more battery in TotKAdvertisement
The Light Dragon also has the Master Sword on its head, so if you’ve got enough stamina then you can pull this out and add it to your weapons. This will send out a wave of light attack if you’ve got full hearts, so with the heart replenish Fuse it could give you a lot of power against the Tears of the Kingdom bosses.
The heart replenish power of the Light Dragon parts won’t be that much of a benefit down in the Depths of chasms, because of the Gloom. You can’t replenish hearts that are Gloom afflicted, so you might want to choose one of the other OP options when you’re chasm hunting.
5. Get the Hylian Shield
The Hylian shield is such an easy pickup and with a defense of 90 it’s the best shield in the game. As with the dragon farming, you can do this without taking on any of the regional phenomena and again we’ve got a guide to getting the Hylian Shield to talk you through the finer details.
It’s in a cave in the north west of the Hyrule Castle Moat, so you need to construct a mini power boat from the materials close by and you’ll be able to make it in. If you’ve got enough stamina, you can just use the glider to get in and then climb the wall with the shield on it, light the brazier and the Hylian Shield will be yours.
RELATED: Water Temple guide TotKAdvertisement
The guide linked above will also talk you through how to repair the Hylain Shield, so that you can keep it throughout TotK, as well as what to do if you accidentally break it. With 90 defense you’ll be pretty OP when it comes to absorbing hits from the bigger bosses, so it definitely comes in handy.
6. Get stronger weapons and shields from Hyrule Castle sanctum
Once you’ve either built up enough stamina to use the glider to get up to Hyrule Castle, or enough battery to power a device up there then you can make it to the sanctum in the middle. This is where you’ll find the throne and you can get the Champion’s Tunic by lighting the two braziers in front of it to get some defense up armor.
You’ll also find a lot of strong weapons and shields. One of the best in the game is the Royal Guard’s Claymore, which is behind a broken statue on the second floor of the sanctum. If you spend a little time looting the Castle, you should also find lots of other treasure to help too, but the Royal Guard’s Claymore is the main target.
It’s got a special buff that makes it stronger when it gets close to breaking. It kicks in when you get a message that it’s badly damaged. From this point on you’ll have three hits to use before it breaks with each one getting progressively stronger. If you combine this with sneakstrikes or with the bone armor or Fierce Deity set below you can take this to extreme levels of damage.

7. Bones-B-OP
AdvertisementIf you don’t know already, you can get seriously OP when using one of the two bone armor sets in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. These are the Evil Spirit armor set, which you get by completing the three Labyrinths, and the Radiant armor set, which you can buy from the Kakariko shop.
The latter is the easier of the two Bone Weapon Proficiency sets to get, but it misses on the stealth buff of the Evil Spirit set. However, the guide is all about getting overpowered fast, so you might want to go with the latter.

The trouble is that it’s really expensive when you first arrive and talk to the shop attendant. You can read our guide to curing the grandma and getting reduced prices in Kakariko Village to make it more affordable, if you haven’t already.
Even then, it’s pretty expensive, so if you’re struggling to get enough money, you might want to check out our guide to getting more rupees fast. With these, you can get the Radiant armor set, and then to get the Bone Weapon Proficiency you need to upgrade them fully at a Fairy Fountain.
AdvertisementYou can see how to unlock all of the Fairy Fountains with the video below and then you just need enough of the materials to land the upgrade. It takes a lot of Luminous Rock, Bokoblin Guts, Moblin Guts, Gibdo Bone and Mulduga Jaw to take them up to be fully upgraded, but it’s worth the effort for the sheer impact on your attack power.
If you’re far enough into the game you can speed through this with the duplication glitch, so check out the guide linked below. If you haven’t made it to the Construct Factory yet, you can either put in the hard yards or opt for the Fierce deity armor set below as an alternative, which is easier to upgrade.

8. Start Lynel farming
You can find various different Lynel throughout The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. There’s one up in the middle of West Hyrule Plains, east of Hyrule Ridge, and another in the Hyrule Castle Chasm, but the best option is to run the gauntlet that is the Lynel Arena.
It’s located to the north west of the Great Abandoned Central Mine, which you get to by following Robbie and Josha’s quests to explore the depths. It’s down the Hyrule Field Chasm to the south west of where you land, but we’ve put together a guide to getting Majora’s Mask, which you get for making it through the Lynel Arena at the Floating Coliseum.
AdvertisementThis will also talk you through how to defeat all of the Lynels, but if you progress with the Bone Weapon Proficiency above you can defeat them really quickly. With one of the bone armor sets upgraded to the max, you get the buff and then you can get a Royal Guards Claymore and damage it until you get the prompt that it’s badly damaged.
Do two more hits and then Fuse a Molduga Jaw to it to make it a powerful bone weapon. You get the jaw from the sand beast to the south of Gerudo Town and you can beat them quickly using a time bomb device and your strongest OP attacks on its softer underside (just don’t use the Claymore, because you need this later).
RELATED: How to get all abilities in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
The Molduga Hammer that you make will only have one hit left, which might seem useless, but Lynels do zero weapon durability damage when you attack them while mounted. This means that you can use the hammer as much as you like on their backs and you can also add in a Mighty Banana meal to get the level 3 attack up that you would have with the Fierce Deity armor below.
A Keese Eyeball arrow will help you get the head-shot to bring them down and then you can run up and mount them for the no durability damage hits. It should be strong enough to finish them off in one cycle, with the Mighty Banana meal, but if not just repeat the steps and you can get all of their loot drops as you go, including multi shot bows, which can be used to take your OP capabilities to the next level (read more in section 12 below).
AdvertisementYou’ll need to use a Light Dragon spike fused weapon to get rid of the Silver Lynel’s shielding for the last one, but after that it’s the same as the others. It’ll give you the Silver Lynel Saber Horn, which has a Fuse power of +55, the strongest in TotK, as well as the Silver Lynel Mace Horn, which has a Fuse power of +51.
9. Fierce Deity set and sword
If you don’t want to constantly have to eat a Mighty Banana meal to get the level three attack up then the other option in the Fierce Deity armor set, which give you this as soon as you put all three items on. When it’s upgraded to level 4 at the Great Fairy Fountains it also gives you a Charge Attack Stamina buff that means you can do more damage during a spinning charge attack.
You also pick up the Fiercy Deity Sword in the process, which is one of the best weapons in The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Combine it with a Silver Lynel Horn to give you the seriously powerful hitter that we mentioned above in the sneakstrike section to get over 700 damage.

You can see how to complete Misko’s Treasure quest in the video below if you want to add the armor to your OP kit. It’s a pretty fast process, so this is one that you can get early to give you the uppoer hand against all of the temple bosses.
Advertisement10. Upgrade and repair weapons
You might be in the habit of letting great weapons break and trying to replace them, but a better method is to repair and upgrade them. Once you get a 5 shot Savage Lynel Bow or the Fierce Deity Sword you should never let it go.
RELATED: How to find Ganondorf TotK
When they’re severely damaged, drop them in front of a Rock Octorok around Death Mountain and they’ll suck it up and spit it out shiny and new. There’s plenty of them to try, but you can only each one once every Blood Moon, so you’ll need to manage this a little.
The added benefit is that they will upgrade your weapons in the process, so you might get attack up or durability up to add to the strength of them. You can use this on everything from the Hylian Shield and Master Sword to the Boulder Breaker and anything else you want to get back into action.
11. OP food
We’ve mentioned the power of mighty bananas, so this is going to be a short section, but if you’re going down the Bone Weapon Proficiency route then adding the level 3 attack up from this meal will massively increase your OP status. It’s a small point with a lot of impact, so definitely not one to forget about.
12. OP arrow fuses
AdvertisementIn The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom, arrows are your best friend, but there are arrows and then there are arrows. Get the right Fuse combo and you suddenly go into OP mode, especially with 5 shot Savage Lynel Bow you can get when you do the Silver Lynel and use the Octorok trick to boost it.
RELATED: The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom final boss fight guide
In terms of raw power, your best option is Gobdo Bone, which has a Fuse Power of +40 and they’re easy to get hold of (especially with the duplication glitch). The 5-shot bow will only use 1 of them to fire 5, so it’s really efficient for a close range head-shot (which does extra damage), so if the bow is 32, plus the 40, multiplied by the 5 shots and the head multiplier and you’ve got 720 damage without any other buffs.
Gibdo bone takes advantage of the Bone Weapon Proficiency of the armor sets mentioned above and with the level 3 attack up of a Mighty Banana meal you can do just short of 2,000 damage with each shot. That’s more than enough to make short work of most of the TotK bosses.
Another big Fuse arrow combo to use is the Puffshroom, because it give you the sneakstrike without the sneaking. It doesn’t work on a Lynel, but it’s good for a lot of monsters in the game if you want to chain sneakstrikes to clear out an enemy area fast.
And with all of that you should be an OP master pretty fast in The Legend of Zelda Tears fo the Kingdom. You’ll have some of the biggest attacks available in the game, strong defence and a number of different options to dish out the pain.
