The reason it’s slightly complex is that you can link your gameplay in Hogwarts Legacy to your Wizarding World account. By doing that, you also link up your house and the wand that you’ve chosen, so it’s easy to assume that you’re locked into your choices.

How to change house from your Wizarding Word account?
If you’ve changed your mind on your house selection for Hogwarts Legacy, the good news is that it can be changed in the game. This will come relatively early in the story, as you might expect, as your fifth year student begins their study at Hogwarts.
AdvertisementAs in the Harry Potter books and films, all new pupils get to meet the Sorting Hat at the start of year banquet and the same will be the case here. This is the ceremony that you’re looking for to change your house, so this is the point you need to make your final decision between Gryffindor, Huffelpuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin.
Sadly, after that point you’ll be locked into your choice of house for that game save file. This means that you won’t be able to change this after the Sorting Ceremony, so make sure that you’ve made the right decision for you. The only way to play through in a different house will be to start a new game after this.
We’re expecting this to be the norm for Hogwarts Legacy with gamers at least trying out each of the experiences a little to get a feel for the different houses. It probably makes sense to do this after the first play through, but you could also do this right at the beginning to give yourself four game save files to play with.
How to change wand from your Wizarding World account?
As with the house selection, you will also get a chance to change your wand choice during the Wand Ceremony in the game. We’re not 100% sure when this will take place, but it makes sense that it’ll also be early int he story of Hogwarts Legacy.
AdvertisementAgain, as is the case with the House, this looks set to lock in your choice for the rest of you playthrough. This means that if you want to change wands after this point you’ll have to start a new game, which will give you even more options in terms of multiple plays of the game.

In the stories of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts you have the choice of main material – e.g. yew, oak etc – and then a magical object embedded into the wand, like a phoenix feather, ogre bogies or dragon toe nail.
Can you change house and want after the ceremonies in Hogwarts Legacy?
As with the two section above, the only chance you’ll have to choose your house and wand in Hogwarts Legacy is during the ceremonies. The Sorting Ceremony comes really early on and we’re expecting the Wand Ceremony to be a similar story, so make your choices count.

If you’re wondering how to change either after the ceremony, the answer is to start a brand new game play through. With all of the character profile options and in-game customisation, it definitely looks like Hogwarts Legacy will be one to get a lot of different tries to see what you can do new in each one.

You can start things off in Gryffindor with a similar progression to Harry Potter for your first play and then come back with a darker intent in Slytherin.
